Anyone know anyone in town who'll repair an ipod for a decent price?

Or does anyone know how I could go about fixing it? It won't turn on at all and doesn't show up when plugged in to USB port. Can't reset it either, so reckon it's either a repair job or buying a new one.

I had same prob mate, I think its a combination of buttons you press. I think I pressed all at the same time and it booted up in some kind of factory mode. I then left it to charge and go into rest mode and when I came back it was back to normal.

    hope this helps. (chinny)

    Have you tried

Soaking it in hot soapy water for 20 minutes?

    Just wondered...

Surprisingly not. Although it does sound like a good idea.

It seems like it's completely dead though. Been plugged in for a couple of hours now and still nothing.

Won't even show up as external memory on the computer...

    Update...

Charged it up today. Been on from about half 11 till about 20mins ago. Couldn't pick it up it was that hot. Looks like there's a drop of liquid on the screen and the centre button has nearly detatched itself. The ring looks to have shrunk and the hold button is sticky. So I think it's all kind of melted. I've had it 15 months.
Quite scary seeing as it probably could have burned the house down if it was on much longer!

Kind of wierd seeing as the problem all started by me just picking it up to turn off...

try putting it in the microwave on medium heat for 2 minutes, cool it in iced water, then reboot it.

I'm quite shocked. That nearly set fire to the microwave... You seen that viral ad where the phone turns into a monster? It was like that, but in real life.
