I had a look at the kits and they looked pretty tricky so thought I'd leave it to an expert. Is that place on Donny road?

What's wrong with it? The reason I am asking is that my ipod was having problems a while ago and I thought it had broken, but a trawl on the internet and I found out all it needed was re-setting. I can't remember how to do this, but it was ridiculously easy. I understand that many ipod 'repair' shops do exactly the same thing and charge an arm and a leg for it, saying they've had to replace a part, etc, when in reality it took all of 5 second and pressing a couple of buttons in a certain order. It was so easy I considered buying up ipods that people were getting rid of as being broken, fixing them and selling them on.

Mine became terribly slow when scrolling and then the screen went altogether. I thought the slowness was because I had so much on it, but it wasn't and was apparently the first sign of something going wrong. Resetting it fixed it immediately though.

Anyway, depending on what's wrong with it, have a quick search on google and you may find a simple solution. Either that or fetch it round to me and I'll, er, replace a part for £50. Of course, you're probably going to tell me that the screen is cracked, in which case please ignore the above!

It's my sons who is 18 going on 6. He had it in his pocket, had too much to drink and has smashed the screen on it.

Ah, in that case please disregard the handy tip! Instead I'll use your info as a handy tip myself, the next time my daughter has hers playing in the kitchen. Smash it, you say?

I think you're going to be right about the paying and arm and a leg part. I reckon the screen will cost about £20 but labour will be about £40. I'm tempted to have a go myself but a few of the sites I've looked on say it's tricky and I dont want to make a pigs ear of it and end up totally screwing it.

Try the Apple shop if you've had it less than a year, I dinted my ipod badly by accident unsure how but it was bent, anyway I wanted it fixing and was willing to pay. so I booked it into Apple store in meadowhall expecting them to to go and then to say yeah we'll sort it for 80 plus quid. took it and they exchanged it for free for n new one eveb though it was accidental damage! I was well shocked.

£20 - £30 fitted sounds good. I'll try the place in town and if they are more expensive I will take a drive through. Thanks.

Going to give the Apple shop a call and see what they say. He only got it about six months ago so I will ask anyway even though I think they will say, "sorry we can't help, your son is a drunken t.it".
