Anyone got one. Thinking of getting one but not sure whether to get 2nd gen or 1st. 1st about £40 cheaper.

Are they a good thing ?? (chinny) (chinny)

Get the second generation one. That comes with volume controls on the side of the iPod. With the first generation you would need to unlock the screen, then use the touch screen to change the volume setting. With the second, it can be changed by feel, without having to unlock the screen. 2nd gen is also slimmer and looks much nicer, if aesthetics is your thing. Word of warning, if you have any iPod connectors/docks etc. the 2nd gen may not fit properly, because apple have modified the connectors.

They include a new dock plate to put into docks.

Got one about 2 weeks ago and love it! Get the 2nd Generation one just for the volume control!

It's not the docks that you need to worry about. If you've got a connector for your car, for example, it may just not fit anymore. If you haven't got anything like that - then 2nd gen is definitely better.
