My view was he was mixxed but the things he does well he did very very well. Manipulating their players in to positions so he could pass the ball easily. Body position so he could just take a player out of the game.

Honestly think a top champ club or premier league club with a good budget to develop him will be back in before September.

one of the lads that went, said he thought he looked a bit suspect, and that roberts was much the better centre half

Roberts for me's not improving Marc and the things he can't do are the things that make clubs pay big money for.

It's likely he'll not go for 500K until be retires.

Alfie at 26 could be and should be anywhere between a 5 and 10 million centre back.

hate me all you want btw. just the way I see things happening

Robbo's first half pen box tackle, was summat else. If I was shopping for centre backs with five million quid, I'd have em both. The current obsession with ball-playing defenders makes Alfie the greater asset, but Robbo is better at his actual job. :D

Great tackle MR.C but then you get the giving the ball away between midfield and defence which let their striker have a shot on goal.

Roberts had a great game today. The tackle he made in the first half to prevent a certain goal was superb.

i don't hate anybody mate. certainly not people on a friendly bulletin board. was just someone else's opinion. to say marc roberts isn't improving though, is crackers. since kevin long went back, robbo was one of our best players. he's improved massively.

Nobody hates you Hemsie. Roberts is a more experienced, successful and a better player than he was when Birmingham were rumouring a million quid. Your sums as well as your analysis are equally misguided. We all like Alfie, but be real... :D

Birmingham were interested in him. But not at 1 million pound. I would imagine it was 250k tops.

Alfie's only 22 Mr C, Hanley now of Newcastle went for about 5 million? He's got the potential of a Grant Hanley and more.

And Alfie has never done that? In a lower level? Many of us have tried to explain things to you, but you insist on teeny bopper punditry, written by arseholes planted to drive up Skysports subscriptions. You fall for it every time.. :D

I said rumoured, I wasn't the only person who heard that. You say you imagine? Then you do imagine an awful lot of stuff...

Not wanting to cause an argument or anything but isn't giving the ball away between defence and midfield one of Mawson's biggest weaknesses?
He can dribble the ball through from the back passed the midfield (Martin cranie style) and can pick out a long range pass (mvoto style) but when it comes to making a short pass to the midfield he often misjudges them and gives the ball away, both of them do actually.

Big clubs pay for pace as well as technique and composure and Roberts has got pace in spades over Alf. I've no preference really as they are both good at different things but to say Roberts won't go for any more than 500k and Alfie to go from anything between 5-10m means he will be 10x better than him? I don't just doubt that I know that.

We let 4 goals in its the job of centre halves to keep clean sheets. I'd say both can improve

Or I haven't got rose tinted glasses on.

Almost like he's from the same village you come from with the way you defend him Springvale

What about your defense/idolisation of Frimpong? At least Roberts is a good player and not an absolute clown.

No he's not from same village Penistone is a Town. No I don't watch with rose tinted glasses on either, yes he's got mistakes in him but not as many as Mawson who escapes your inane criticism. Get behind all the lads not just 1 or 2. Got to go I'm off to Hemsworth to watch my daughter play footballs or Barnsley Ladies, feel free to come and criticise her play centre half
