I dont understand how he can be classed as a better goalkeeper

than, not just Steele, but several goalkeepers in the championship and a few in the premiership. Okay I don't expect him to be playing for England anytime soon, however surely the fact that he's conceeded 17 goals in 10 games has got to count for something during squad selection.

Frank Fielding at Derby, has conceeded 9.
Luke Steele has conceeded 8 (Preece conceeded the other goal)
Matt Gilkes at Blackpool has conceeded 9
Carl Ikeme at Middlesbrough has conceeded just 5

Obviously a good defence also contributes to the number of goals a goalkeeper conceeds but surely they can't be factoring the number of goals conceeded into their selection process.

Don't you think that had we sold Luke to Leeds, Derby, Pompey etc.... just before the transfer window shut and he carried on his form he probably would have been called up?

Don't you think it's come to summat when England are scratching about in the championship for goalkeepers?

What's happened to our great goalkeeping heritage?

They dont usually get a chance now in the top division. Adam Bogdan at Bolton yesterday was a prime example. Hes Romanian (I think maybe wrong) and Bolton have obviously invested alot of money in him to get him over here then continue to develop him. Did you see his performance. Poor. And thats being kind. Surely they have an acadamy keeper whos english who is as good or iof not better than Bogdan but who isnt getting a chance because of him. Ok - He is 2nd choice at Bolton but thats not the point. He is a poor keeper who is blocking the development of an Engish keeper.........
