They were knocked out of both cups at the very next hurdle. Two of the reasons he stayed gone weeks after turning us down and the chance to double his salary.

Ah well, Flickers Red and White army!

He lives in Inverness. I don't think he will regret staying up there.

I never wanted him as I think his record in England is pretty poor. He took the easy option and I for one am extremely glad he did.

Things happen for a reason, no way would we have got the results flicker has got under butcher, we'd be rock bottom, accepting relegation, and Stones would have gone for 500k

Fair play to him. In a business where money is king, he showed loyalty to the club that pays his wages, there's not many that would do the same.

Tykesfan I don't know how much was loyalty and how much was looking at our setup and what was available and concluding he had no chance of keeping us up.

I would love to live up there. Best part of the UK by a mile.

You forgot the Mountains and Dolphins. Much better place to live than Barnsley.

Inverness - too cold, good for a Labrador though.

Totally agree. I love it up there. We're hoping to go back to the same cottage we had for our Silver Wedding Anniversary on the side of the mountains, overlooking Loch Ness again for our Pearl Anniversary next year. Every year we've holidayed up there we've had glorious weather and never been bothered by midges.

Having lived there for over a year..

Its a lovely spot, clean (mostly) and in the heart of the highlands.

For those loving the outdoors (like me) its a fantastic place to live but it does have significant drawbacks

115 miles to the nearest sizable town apart from Inverness

    6 hours from Oakwell

    No old mates or family

    Expensive to go on Holiday

    Cold dark winters

I could have stopped if I'd decided to be a dirty contractor but chose to come back to Yorkshire for security of work and some of the above factors. Still miss it but also value the benefits of being home.

I'm not sure your average townie would settle

I love it up there too but you have to admit that Jimmy Krankie is pretty irritating.
