Is a 10% (or more) improvement enough?

a win at Cardiff would mean a 16% improvement)

I would say so -it has been Davey's first full season-he (hopefully) will learn from this season and push us higher up the table next year

The big disappointment this year for me

is the money we wasted on our forwards. I know every signing can't be a success, but neither can we afford to spend almost a £million on Christensen, Mostto and Odejayi and get so little in return. Plus the fact that Nardiello and Ferenczi also completely failed to deliver. A club on a tight budget like ours has got to have a better success rate than that. Had we had a decent striker we'd have been safe weeks ago.

yes !

its massive achievement stayingin this league , compared to the spending power of our so called bigger rivals we have over achieved yet again ,

dont let anyone kid themselves we are genuine play off contenders...

mid table , odd flirt with promotion , get lucky with a few new signings in the summer and we might just push on , for now , we have done fantastically well...

The big disappointment for me this year has been the attendances

and the way our 'fans' seem to be able to turn their support on and off like a light switch. we can complain all we like about the marketing, the cost and the lack of online ticketing, but several thousand people were able to find money for the Chelsea game and Wembley, probably a third or more of the cost of a season ticket, but then disappeared for the 3 home games and will no doubt turn their back when the season tickets go on sale again.

Expectations are that we will sign strikers and move up the table. But with only 11,000 for the last home game of the season, are those expectations realistic?

A great season

Taking into account we only had De Silva/Muller/Macken for half a season and we also lost Souza and Nyatanga for longish spells I'm confident that next year we can push on towards middle/top half.

I also think the cup was a major distraction and probably cost us up to 10 points in our league form. But, it was a great money spinner and for me we should reinvest on a winger and a forward and then we'll be as good as anyone on our day.

I think Davey's done averagely well. He brought in a lot of new faces, some of whom are very good, some average and some have failed to deliver - as you would expect really. Our success in the FA Cup has helped the fans overcome the disappointment of the league. But the end of this season issimilar tomany - "if only we could get anew player in position x and position y,then we could really mount a challenge next year..." - it's thatsense of hope/expectationthat keeps us coming back for more every season.

Yes

We can't compete with the bigger clubs with what they pay in transfers and more importantly what they pay in wages.

Yes we need a 20 goal a season man but so does everyone else. In order to get one you need to get lucky with a lower league player or pay a load of money which we cn't afford (4.5 million in James Beatie's case).

I'm happy with it and think that without the cup distraction we could well have been 8 - 10 points better off. The squad is better
and the way we've played generally is better. I hoped years ago after our visit to the Premiership we'd become more of a football town.
Of late we are more of a Wigan than a Sunderland, which disappoints. Even Huddersfield a div. lower are nearly matching us.
Has footie gone forever out of the Barnsley lifestyle? It's a shame too that all Daveys poor signings have been strikers, because many
of the good ones elsewhere have inspirational. Foster/Campbell-Rice/Souza/Muller/Da Silvaetcetc Not many clubs signing so many
at once get this much success. Overall pleased with progress, but we need to build on it.

I think we have made progress.

Improved in the league.

Amazing cup run.

Team has visibly improved.

Still room for improvement.
