our bid had been rejected for ......... If we're serious surely we should be in the area that we can sign the player. I want to hear that the bid has been accepted and the player has signed.
If our bids were accepted first time, every time couldn't it suggest we were bidding over the odds? WHat's wrong with a bit of bartering?
I don't know what people are stressing about. A player is worth what someone will pay. Walsall want 900k. No ones paying that. They need to sell him January latest and by that time they'd be look to get 500k. 650k tops for me. He's unproven at Chanpionship level and if we went back down it doesn't take over 400k to will out a 20 goal a season striker. We did it with Winnall for 150k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nonesense post. Like anything in life, the price has to be right. I'm very happy with the bids we've had accepted - including by Adam Hammill and his advisers.
I'm sick of hearing it in the sense that we need a good few players yet and I hope the bulk are in place before the last couple of friendlies... but I understand the club's position totally. There's nothing wrong with having an initial bid rejected, but I think when it's the second or third bid the club has to make a decision to either pay up, or move on. Bradshaw for example... I'd love to sign him, but if we aren't going to be close to the valuation, let's move on. Preferably we'd keep a bit of the budget back to test their nerve again later on. We aren't in a position to bid high and guarantee getting players straight in, so negotiation is essential.
Understand all that, but I come on here hoping to hear that we've made some signings, not that our bids have been turned down. I'd rather not know if we've been turned down. I don't even know if these are good buys, I trust the management with that. It seems to me that with the players that we haven't got from Wembley we are short of a championship side. Players are back in training and we could do with some signings now.
How many times in the past have fans criticized the club for not being open and forthcoming enough about transfers? At least we're making offers instead of waiting about for last minute deals like so many times in the past
I'm happy that we seen to be proactive this season rather than scrambling around last minute as in the past. I have every confidence the right players will be signed for the right price. Didn't we have several bids for Hourihane turned down before we got him? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is a about 12 months old but makes interesting reading http://www.skysports.com/transfer/n...ansfer-works-from-the-scouting-to-the-signing Including the fact that the first 2 to 3 offers made are too low and usually rejected
I don't mind the bids thing. There's always bartering. It does seem as usual we are leaving things late and will then do things in a rush. Not good for team development or cohesion in the first few months as we have demonstrated. In the Championship we may not be able to catch up if we start miles behind everyone else.
