Booked a hotel room 2 weeks ago for wembley (without even having a ticket for the game). Then i gave up on trying to get a ticket and decided I was'nt going to wembley (also sulked a lot). Then tuesday night a man offered me a ticket in the pub for a very reasonable price. So now I have a ticket for the match, accomodation and no transport! Thinking of risking getting the train on the day, anyone know how much it would cost?
Try National Express - they're running a bus that leaves bus station at 9.20am and goes to the stadium (£28).
if you go one the train it will cost you a fortune, but its too late now to book a seat long enought in advance to get any kind of cheap deal, so if you choose the train you might as well not pay and run the risk of getting caught
Can't speak for Midland Mainline, but I have used GNER trains often, or National Express as they are now, and NEVER gone the whole journey without a full ticket inspection - they are hot on it - it's not like getting away with it on a 20 minute local train journey. Don't even think about it unless you fancy a criminal record as a memento of the day.
I'm going on the train Sheffield to St Pancras on Sat lunchtime returning Sunday night £73 return for 2 adults Booked it about a week ago
RE: I'm going on the train Donny to kings x - £55 each 8.54am returning 9.30pm Only 2 hours and can drink all way home Never go a journey that distance without getting checked for ticket
we always travel with midland mainline sheffield to st pancras in about 2 1/2 hours, usually costs about 19 return. If you pay for railcard in advance you can get discounts. Do not travel without a ticket its not worth a criminal conviction
RE: I'm going on the train I travel regularly with NXEC and know you have a few choices with them: - 1. Book in advance, save a few bob and reserve a seat for no extra charge. 2. Buy on the day from the ticket office at full price but no seat reservation. 3. Board the train without a ticket. If the guard does do a check (and they usually do unless you board at Peterborough where it's a bit hit or miss) you can pay on board at the maximum rate possible. They'll only press charges if you can't/won't pay up and they WILL also turf you off at the next station where British Transport Police will be waiting. I'll be boarding at Peterborough but only becasue I live there.
