Im sure that the club didnt have all its eggs in one basket when trying to sign Phillips. There have been plenty of quality players released from Premiership/Championship clubs, surely if we can get players down to Oakwell they would be pleasantly suprised by the facilities we have (with the exception of the West stand). Their arent many clubs that have the standard of training facilities we have and actually on the site of the ground...... Whats worrying is what was said by the club regarding the offer for Phillips, that it was more to do with relocating than money. I suppose alot of players dont fancy coming to a "northern minning town" or "little Barnsley" (or what ever else that press likes to refer to us as) to ply there trade, but Im hopeful that their is a so called big name player out their that Barnsley FC will prove the right move for..... I mean we have had players come here and perform well and get a move to/back to the Prem i.e. Ward & Hignett. I'd be more than happy to take on a player with a point to prove... Chopra for example would have the hunger to prove Keane wrong and I'd be more than happy for him to have a 20 goal season with us to do it!!!! Well fingers crossed & I suppose time will tell!!!
RE: Ask Leon Constantine That ******** turning us down must be the best thing thats happened to the club in years.... Cos if he'd have signed instead of Ferenczi we would most definatley be a league 1 club... he is absolute ***** (wnkr) (wnkr)
it depends how you look at it? Do you look at the area or club, some players want money others want a succesful career. The club has everything in place in terms of ground and facilities but our attendances will play a big factor given last season we had the 4th lowest only ahead of clubs who have smaller grounds than us. So for us to sell the club to a player is much harder which is why the promotions we have put inplace this year and improved marketing should help to show the clubs vision and ambition?
