New Leeds manager Neil Warnock has confirmed he gave the players a half-time talk against Doncaster after being appointed at Elland Road on Saturday.

The Whites fell 2-0 behind in the Championship derby but pulled off a stunning comeback to triumph 3-2, with Luciano Becchio netting a last-gasp winner.

Warnock was in attendance following his appointment as manager earlier that day and confirmed he spoke with the players at the break.

"I couldn't resist going down at half-time if I'm honest. I'm not a stand man," he told Sky Sports News.

"I thought they did well. We changed formation just after half-time and I thought it worked well if I'm honest.

"Credit to them, a lot of teams might have given up. But 2-0 down, it got the atmosphere going."

    Promotion
The manager previously guided Leeds' Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United into the Premier League and the Whites will be hoping he can emulate that success at Elland Road.

The club are currently 10th in the table but Warnock is not ruling out a promotion push.

"I think anything can happen," he added.

"I think we're a long way away from being a top side, if I'm honest. But the lads have got spirit and they showed that today.

"Everybody's trying to help everybody else because no-one is running away with (the league). You never say never do you."
