Is Eriksson losing the plot?

Plays five in midfield against Wales, now apparently, Cole will be dropped to move Rooney to left midfield and Owen up front to keep the five in midfield. I know what, lets move one of the best strikers in Europe into midfield against one of the worst sides in Europe.

Now Beckhams started complaining because the media can see how bad he is and his PR machine can't cover it up anymore. Why are re-arranging the England team to fit in a player who's best days are behind him and his ego is damaging the England side with his refusal to stay on the right hand side and now he's playing as a holding midfielder instead of Owen Hargreaves, who behind Makelele and Xavi, is the best in Europe.

And we're supposed to be in with a chance of winning the World Cup? I'm beginning to lose my faith in Eriksson

Rooney won't play left midfield, it's same formation (and position) he plays for Utd

You're seriously saying Owen Hargreaves is 3rd best holding midfielder in Europe??

I'm no fan of Erikson either btw.

Lost it ages ago. Beckham's been a virtual passenger since the Greece game where he scored the last second freekick, but Eriksson has apparently said that Lampard's form is worrying.

    One rule for one...

Yes, I noticed that. Unreal isn't it. it was like the greatest England side programme last year on tv when Beckham got in above Stanley Matthews.

Beckham hasn't done anything since the Greece game and that was 2001!! When was his last good England performance?

He was OK in the Wales game at Old Trafford I think.

Well he scored which meant he at least contributed for once.

I was gonna agree with you whole heartedly, until you stated that Owen Hargreaves is one of the best holding midfielders in Europe.

played a fantastic pass to SWP on saturday which led to the goal.

i think as John Dill says Rooney will be roaming around behind owen and cutting in from the left where he is deadly.

Viera, Keane, Davids, Gravesen, Parker, etc.
All better holding players than Hargreaves. Although in fairness he is better than his England performances suggest.

We need to get Cole pushing on more to make the system effective.

Butt, Hamaan, Carrick, Pirlo, Gattuso plus shedloads in Spain I would think.

Not Joe coz he isnt half as good as people think he is.

All his trcicks are at a snails pace , and the majority of his goals are via defelections.

Him and Lampard will be outed as very average players shortly.

    Lampard = New David Platt.

He tried that pass about 30 times. Against a team as bad as Wales, one of them was going to come off.

Hmm, good choices there. Carrick especially deserves a chance for England.

    Scot Parker???

Is best performances as a Charlton player were when he was pushed forward and scoring a few goals. Poor late tackles does not a defensive midfielder make.

Joe Cole is 1 of 3 midfielders that played on Saturday that I wouldn't argue with dropping. The other 2 are Gerrard and Lampard. (this is based on performance on the night) Beckham didn't do a bad job in a position he shouldn't be playing in the first place.

It's the story of this team though, if I was managing a team against England, I'd fear meeting Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Wright Phillips all hitting form together, I think they'd destroy anyone, but it never happens. One or two of them are always poor. Have that midfield with Owen up front, Rooney floating and Gerrard holding. On form, we'd be untouchable.....like sean connery and that matey from water world.

RE: Is SheffTyke losing the plot?

    WTF.....

Beckham is easily single out because he set such high standards for himself. He is still a quality player, and his pass to wright phillips in the Wwales game was out of this world. He is an inspiration to the England players on and off the pitch. The opposition would be pleased if Beckhams name wasn't on the team sheet. FACT.

As for Hargreaves as 3rd best holding midfielder in the world - are you having a laugh. He's probably England's third best behind Parker and Neville.....
