Or not? When it suits it seems to be and we have to look at in terms of what we would do in our jobs. However, when it's convenient it can't be compared to normal jobs and the supporters can't put themselves in the same position. So which is it, because it can't be both?
obviously there isn't a single answer. football is a global industry and there a hundreds if not thousands of different roles in it. so to answer your question - yes, it can be both
In general yes it is. In fact in a lot of ways it is worse. Players and managers have generally short term contacts which are not renewed or terminated early in case someone better can be found In most jobs you have to clearly fail before you are removed not just someone percevied to be better can be hired in your stead. Job security in football is much worse than in many other careers - so its hard to criticise players managers or even CEO's leaving for a better job. There are exceptions of course - Lee Johnson for example is still not high on my Xmas card list
Yes it is. Most of the employees come and go. But football is like a family business. If you treat a young kid right - one of your mates lads who you did a favour for and gave him a job when he needed one and there really weren't any to be given - single them out for better things - pay their way through university / night school - fast track and mentor them - stick with the through their mistakes - then they **** off to your competitor on the promise of an extra 3k and a ford focus - right after they qualify because Jim in sales has another 6 months to go before retirement and you think the ungrateful little **** has a bit more learning to do before you put him in a 3 series - absolutely footballs like real life. It's just the families are bigger in football.
Its just the same, the problem football has is fans (us) get attached. If the chief exec of Tesco had left today to go and work for B and Q would you give a toss? i doubt it very much. i cant get bothered about an employee leaving, id love to him to work for free at BFC as 99% of us would, id love him to flog himself to death trying to improve things but we all know its a job, just as 99% of the playing staff see it as a job. Offer them more money somewhere else and they are off. thats life and as much as its strange to us lot as we are emotionlly attached thats how it is.
One of my mates a lifelong Barnsley fan turned down Premiership clubs to sign for us. Freed when he was younger later made the way back up the pyramid. I once asked him if he regretted letting his heart rule his head. Every ******* day was his reply but at least it made me realise a jobs just a job.
