is Hassell going to start the season in centre of midfield.

Or maybe we are going to try and loan in Robbie Williams until Anderson DS gets fits?

I think he will

infact, I'd be surprised if the starting line up for QPR is any different to this:

Steele
Foster
Moore
Souza
Kozluk
JCR
Howard
Hassell
Leon
Macken
Hume

I think you are right, apart from El Houmir instead of Leon.

Surely we have got to get a cental midfielder in on loan until De Silva gets fit, playing Hassell in central midfield is suicidal.

Leon playing wide instead of Devaney?

Then we will struggle.

Not knocking Bobby cos he does what's asked, but with him in midfield we have no pace or height. Because of his natural defensive position he sits a mile too deep (maybe on orders ?) and we just invite pressure on to us.

Hold on what about Colace!

thought he has been signed to fullfill that role. Def don't want bobby in midfield.

Foster at right back

to accommodate Souza and Moore, Kozluk is our only option at left back, fairly certain Steele will start in goal. Leaves Hassell to play centre midfield cos Colace isnt ready, Howard and JCR are certainties if they are fit, cant see him getting away with spending top whack to sit Hume on the bench, so the only debate is Leon or a n other. Since Devaney hasnt featured in pre season, he'll doubtless be behind in fitness, else sold to Blackpool to get the numbers down. Im also prepared to bet our bench looks very inexperienced: Letheren, Butterfield, Adam, Atkinson, El Ham and ODJ, at a guess.

Cannot see us bringing in another centre midfield player until Togwell and/or Johnson leaves.

Andy Johnson the "Complete Midfielder"

Should still be involved.

I think he has

Whether he is good enough to go straight into first-team action is another matter.

However, last night the need for some steel in the middle of the park was apparent. Even playing 3-5-2, with Butterfield, Leon and Howard as the midfield 3, the area we looked most vulnerable was smack down the middle.

The forgotten man

cannot see Davey picking him. Given the cold shoulder and told to play with the yooths, transfer listed and no way back. Rightly or wrongly, Davey rarely changes his mind.

RE: Foster at right back

"Colace not ready".....ffs. Now this is what really pisses me off. What is the point in supposedly "strengthening" the squad with players like this from the other side of the world that either take half the season to settle or as is the case with Mostto never settle at all. Surely there are enough suitable players on these shores?
It beggars belief it really feckin does.

RE: The forgotten man

surely a good manager puts the teams cause first makes sure the team succeeds before his personal vendettas against certain squad members, he must have known that Andy Johnson would never reach full 100% fitness due to his age, so why bring him here if hes never going to play, im sorry but Davey and his silly fallouts and vendettas nearly cost us our league status with his defiance to play anybody but his starting 11, this needs to change if we are to do anymore than avoid the drop every season from now on

BRING BACK ANDY JOHNSON

One of the most obvious choices Davey has to make, stop being a stubborn git and give him a chance.

You own the club. You write the cheques.

Your manager gets in the "complete midfielder" on a contract then bombs him out almost immediately. Then we go on the world tour of 'not quite ready yet' midfielders.

Where's that chequebook ?

I think that analysis is spot on and exactly the way he'll start at QPR ...... thus making our summers team strengthening look very very odd and weak to say the least. The signing of another South American just beggers belief the way things went last season.

Really finding it hard to see where we are starting the season with a stronger squad than we finished the last one with which is criminal in my opinion.

All signings are a bit of a gamble

to some degree, as a Chairman I'd be narked if our ratio of good to bad signings was less than 50:50, think he's done reasonably well so far, what would nark me even more would be if he kept quiet and persisted with players that werent up to it just not to lose face. I'd rather know player x or y have turned out to be below the standard and what he's doing about shipping them out and sourcing a replacement. Personalities should never come into it, selection should be on ability and contribution to the team. End of.

In Andy Johnson

Daveyknew his age. He'd played at this level and higher all his career. Davey must have know what he was all about.

Absolutely criminal that Bobby Hassel was stuck in midfield whilst a player of Johnson's calibre was kicking about with the juniors.

My point is, that signings paying off or not, Davey so far has had more backing than any manager since God knows when, and we look like starting the season with a makeshift 1st XI in certain areas. Quite simply not good enough for me if I was the one bankrolling it all.

S.M. good reply to the thread but, unfortunately Davey cannot or will not change his habits. He will continue to fck up. I'm afraid his stubbornness will be to the detrement
of this club and it's supporters and as such he will be found out very quickly by P.C .
