Am I the only one on here who was underwhelmed by Bri's performances when it really mattered? Play-off final in Cardiff - anonymous and substituted (Dale Tonge I believe). FA Cup semi - one decent pass for Odi's infamous miss, but otherwise anonymous. McPhail was a serious loss - Bri's not anything like the same class. He's been OK, but as one of those priveleged to see King Ronnie I've got to say that Howard is unlikely to engender anything like serious long-term nostalgia (other than his goal at Anfield which is fair enough). Don't wish to dampen expectations but I'll be surprised if there is ever a sizeable sell-on windfall coming our way. I'm far more concerned about everything else to be honest. Like the fact that our manager believes that the club's long suffering customers do not deserve an explanation as to why he spends £400K (plus all the add-ons) on a striker and then excludes him in favour of a 15 year old! And that he seems to genuinely believe Jon Macken might score a goal this side of the next World Cup.
It would be interesting to see of our 39 league goals that he didn't score, how many he actually created quite a few I'll bet so who's going to score and who's going to create now?
he's a very good player who has given us some fantastic memories, most of all that goal at Anfield. He's not up there with the likes of Hignett, Ward, Hendrie in my opinion; but I'll be telling people about that goal until the day I die. The season starts on Saturday. You Reds.
RE: It would be interesting to see That's a good point because one of my major doubts about him is his tendency to go it alone when he should have brought other players in. In other words he's a bit selfish. We'll see, but I honestly don't think he is that big a loss.
RE: he's a very good player He did indeed give us a special moment at Anfield for which I'll always be grateful. Let's see what he does from now on. I genuinely wish him luck, but I just don't think he's as good as some people on here are making out.
You have valid points regarding his selfishness, but I think he will thrive when he is not the big fish in the sea. One of the few box-to-box players in the modern game and will be a damn good signing IMO for the Blunts. Can't believe he chose to go there though, very disappointing.
Much as I hate to say it, he has gone to a club with a genuine chance of going up. He's now playing in a team with a £4m striker. He doesn't have to move house (although that might be debatable!!). On balance I think I might have done the same.
RE: If we go down i will not be grateful that he scored at Anfield nt You have to hang on to such memories. They don't come along too often.
Played well when the whole team did, which hasn't been very often over the last few years. Never saw Howard have a sparkler when the team played poorly. One good game in every half a dozen is being kind.
RE: Dont want to hang onto the memory of being relegated nt But would he have kept us up? I doubt it.

I never though he was anything special.
The only chance he will have of playing in the Premiership is if Shefield United are promoted.
I can't see any Premiership Club wanting to sign him. If there has been genuine interest from the Premiership it hasn't led to any of them signing him.
That should tell us something?
