My other half is from Rovrum and she insists it's a Breadcake, she says it's only becomes a Teacake when it's got currants in it. I've Googled it and the rest of the world is as daft as her.
This debate is nearly as common as pay on the gate. What about can you pay on the gate with tea cakes? Or Is unsmoked bacon, bacon that has been smoked then unsmoked. Bit like Unpeppered steak.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
a cob is crusty bread surely, like you might had with soup in a restaurant? i'm in the teacake / currant teacake camp, but I would say bread cake is more common in Lancashire & Derbyshire...
Baps Teacakes are them chocolate things with marshamallow inside, unless they're toasted, then they're bread with currants in.
It's a teacake to me. All this, barm, roll or breadcake talk is just nonsense. "talk reight or keep shtum"
If you are in Yorkshire its a Teacake If I go into my local bakers in Surrey its a large soft white bread roll never heard of a breadcake
