I get more and more despondant about the coming season :( :( :(

Surely we are not going to start the season at QPR with the current strikers

Mostto.............(tried and tested - not good enough)
Odejayi.......... (tried and tested - not good enough)
    Mackan ..........(proven striker)
Hume ............(brought in as a striker or was it as a winger - who knows?)

In an emergency, say we use Hume as a striker, so we have Macken and Hume up front, what happens if one or both get injured or suspended...........do we then bring on Mostto and/or Odejayi to get the goals for us, or do we have to rely on Brian Howard to do this - AGAIN !!!

    Hume has been.......

brought in as a striker not a winger! he's played nearly all his career as a striker.

I'm not sure Hume has been brought in as a striker

We have had this conversation before
    But here we go again..................

SD said we need competition on the wings
Now some on here think this problem has been solved with the French guy
BUT, when the French guy was brought in SD said that this will solve the problem of having a left footed full back.
So for me, the French guy is a full back that can play on the wing if need be.
Hume is either a winger or a striker, but if he has been brought in as a striker that means SD is still in search of a winger to add competition to the wings.
Furthermore, PC has said we need a couple of new strikers.

Therefore, taking into account what PC and SD have said, which ever way you look at this, we are still two players short.
Its either - a winger and a striker
    OR, two strikers

I hope this makes sence, because it dosen't to me, and I wrote the chuff (doh)

Be careful Young Nudger cos constructive, balanced critical assessment is seen as treason by some on here.

You've got it wrong about what Davey said about El Haimour

    MOUNIR WINGS IN TO OAKWELL
Posted on: Mon 30 Jun 2008

BARNSLEY manager Simon Davey has again raided European football to bring Frenchman Mounir El Haimour to Oakwell.

The 27-year-old left-sided player has today signed a two-year deal with the Reds after the Club agreed an undisclosed fee with Swiss side NE Xamax.

"Mounir is an exciting player and is naturally left sided so he will add something to our squad which we were missing last season.

"It is another big deal for this Club and we are delighted to have brought him here. Mounir is a player who will be comfortable as a left winger or wing back. He will add a dynamic option on the left hand side to complement what we had last season on the opposite flank".

Born in Limoges, France, Mounir started his career with spells at Chatellerault and Swiss side Champagne Sports before signing for Yverdon in Switzerland in 2002. Mounir has spent three years with NE Xamax although he enjoyed a successful spell on loan with Russian side Spartak Alania in 2004.

Mounir moved across Switzerland to sign for Schaffhausen in 2006 and again was a regular, making 26 appearances before his switch to NE Xamax at the start of last season. He turned out 31 times for NE Xamax in the Swiss top flight during the 2007/2008 campaign helping the Club to avoid the drop with an eighth place finish.

The deal is subject to the relevant paperwork being registered and international clearance.

And I can assure you that Hume has been brought in as a striker.

Hume has been bought as a striker.

He was used by Leicester as a winger, but has stated that his prefered position is that of striker.

Thats what l thought, Holloway played him out of position.

But it'll be guarenteed that the master of playing people out of position will put him on the wing. He is a striker and should be up front with Macken.

If he's comfortable on the left why was he on the right against York?

To fool the opposition probably. You know like Hassell in midfield, Odejayi up front and so on.

I'm afraid I've no idea what goes on in Simon Davey's head.

Maybe it's a complex management strategy to keep people on their toes, always outside their 'comfort zones'.

    Such as:

"Hi Rob, it's Simon. Yeah, I'm good thanks. Anyway, is there any chance you could do one of them injury stories on the official site, maybe a knock or a bug or something like that. Just pick any player. But don't try to spell diarrhoea, put tummy ache instead......Why?, it's called mind games Rob. Ferguson and Wenger do it sometimes"

If we had too decent strikers...........then why not have Hume on the wing

Having two strikers that can actually score............and Hume on the wing, who can also score regularly from the wing (something we haven't had recently)
And Howard breaking through from midfield

For me, that seems the ideal option
