Used to be 'gives you time to get a cup of tea' now you have time to cook a dinner, 3 course (doh) (doh)
and also getting more frequent. the liverpool champs league qualifier last week came on at 8 an went for ad break minute and half later
It's getting terrible A one hour show is now approximately about 48 minutes, and half hour comedies about 24 mins.
What's more they all seem to conspire to have their breaks at the same time. I swear I've gone through about 50 bloody channels and found nowt but adverts!
We've come a long way since the days when adverts were limited to around 6 minutes per hour.

Think long ads are self defeating Cos I either mute the buggers or switch to BBC 1 or 2 and watch owt rather than ads
whats worse is flicking through the other channels and finding nearly everyone on freeview is al showing adverts
That's true Everytime you channel hop, no matter what time you choose to do this, you can guarantee there'll be adverts on. The adverts are longer and longer and louder and louder. Channel 4 / E4 is worse for this. It really cheeses me off, having to reach for the volume every time.
It's all down to dynamics The adverts aren't actually any louder, they're not legally allowed to be, it's just they have no dynamic range. During a normal TV show you'll get a range of volume from very quiet to very loud and everything in between. The adverts compress their volume so it'll all very loud. It's no louder than the very loud parts of the TV shows, it's just all up there. I've just bored myself to sleep.
