I know lots don't rate his work effort but for me we need his sort of touch hence last 2 poor performances
We certainly do. If only he "ran about a lot". he might be missed by some of the hard of thinking too.
Female fans view: in a screechin top of voice style voice "SHUKER, SHUKER. come on ref, he's only little, thats a foul! Ah, bless him..."
RE: Female fans view: You've been sitting with Wayne too much, that's exactly what he said against Darlington.
RE: Female fans view: There's several of those dotted around the ground. Ban 'em. Thought Shuker did work hard last night to be fair. Why won't we pass to Devaney ? And the lack of creativity from midfield means the front two have to drop deep/wide to get the ball. But Hayes is crap etc. Scott Flounders - that's 2 he's chucked in in 2 games. We seem to be more resilient than previous seasons. Big up to Ritchie & Holden for that.
RE: What you must always do As always, my optician friend. They're just trying to fit in with us blokes.
RE: What you must always do They can try but women are genetically disposed to know knob all about football. Or driving.
Agree about Flinders also, when Carbon went off, Kay seemed to lose a bit of composure. Hassell much better centre half, reads the game better than most. erm...Nicky Woe? Howard took 20 mins to play himself into the game, impressed by him everytime I see him play. he'll pick up bookings, but he's got that certain stickiness that our midfield has lacked. when Devaney keeps it simple, he's a very good player, his crossing is a zillion times better than what we've come to expect from the right. put McPhail back into that side and we're starting to look like. not getting carried away by league position cos lots of teams within 3 points of us, but certainly seem much harder to beat than last year. obviously a defeat against you know who on Setdi and I'll not be HP!
I can't understand The logic of anyone's argument that McPhail isn't any good , because he doesn't run around a lot . Who would they prefer , McPhail or the likes of Mitch Ward , Gary Jones and Alex Neil ? The side should be able to encompass the differing styles and abilities that Shuker and McPhail both bring to the team . Then again , as I like both Shuker and McPhail , I could be in a minority . I just can't understand why we have to choose between the two styles of player .(seestars)
RE: Agree about Flinders I've got some right abuse coming if we get turned over Setdi. btw, When Scunny played Chelsea, Mourhinho picked out 3 players who he thought were more than capable of playing at Championship level. Their centre half, Matty Sparrow, and the worst striker ever to play for us apparently. That Jose, knows **** all................
I think it comes down to how you employ 11... and particularly midfield If we go with Devaney, Shuker, Burns, Mcphail is it too attacking? and will mcphail have to drop back as well OR can Howard replace Mcphail - to some degree yes - in which case more balance at back (great tackle lst night) but less probing passes
Difficult to describe definition of midfield stickiness: that the ball seems sticks to him, that he puts a foot in when necessary and breaks down their attack even if giving away a foul, stops them playing and picks up the lose ball, keeps it simple, sticks to what he knows, nothing too complicated. call it rub of the green if you like, we've been on the end of some sucker punches in last 5 mins of games, and I think Howard has brought to us an ability to kill games or to stop the other team gaining momentum.
stickiness - howard was DEAD lucky not to get booked ..is that.. stickiness no I take your point - wheedles the ball sometimes like Mcphail doesn't easily lose it
RE: I think it comes down to how you employ 11... Devaney (RW) Burns (RM) McPhail (LM) Howard (LW) Also: Shuker (Sub)
RE: I can't understand It's not to do with "running around" but being involved in the game. Devaney makes space for himself & yells for the ball (doesn't always get passed it, but that's not his fault)< Shuker goes & gets the ball, McPhail wanders around the pitch looking like he's not bothered, haLf the time plays the ball back to defence which puts us under unnecessary pressure, yes he does have skill but he needs to couple it with effort!
RE: I can't understand I'm not sure we can accept that as a valid argument. You wouldn't understand, it's a blokes thing. A bit like working, football, driving, etc.
