Three first class but very different performances in a row: a humdinger of a game against Bristol City where for 30 minutes we scared the league leaders half to death, a perfect battling away performance at our local rivals, and the controlled demolition of a side a league below, leaving plenty in the tank. The Colchester manager described those performances as Premier League/Championship standard. He's over egging it, as opposition managers tend to do. If Colchester win or get a draw it will be a remarkable performance, if they lose it's because they were up against such a great side. Ours weren't Premier league or Championship performances, but they were as good as anything this league has to offer. People have started talking about us having a good team. Everyone has been looking forward to the game, excited almost. The fact that it's a Friday night, so the game can be combined with a few alcoholic refreshments, has added to the anticipation. We're up for this one and we have been all week. If my history of supporting Barnsley has taught me owt, it's these games that we're looking forward to the most, when we believe the team is actually capable of summat, that we always ******* lose.
Tom's coming with me. 0-0 nailed on. Not sure he's seen us score at home since 3 against Boro last season.
Yes, it's easy to be pessimistic at times like this because, as you say, it's happened often enough before. You could look at the results inevery season in the last fifty years and point to examples of times when "oh, if we win this one we go into the promotion slots", or "three points in this one takes us up five places". You know the story, we all do. Like everyone else, I am loving this season, apart from the obvious embarrassments (Crawley, MK Dons etc). The fact is though that we cannot win every match and, now and then, we have to lose one of those that everyone expects us to win. I think/hope that tonight is not one of those. I think if we get our heads down early on (like Burton) everything will be ok. I hope this rain eases up as well, but either way, I am looking forward to it. 3-1 to us tonight with SSW bagging a couple and DC coming on late again and scoring the third.
Fair assessment, but one things for sure, even if it rains all day they WILL STILL PUT THE BLOODY SPRINKLERS ON.
barnsley 11/8 if you fancy us..... decent price that looking at the formbook!! oh go on then i'll make it a double star nap! Barnsley @ 11/8 ....get on now!!! hth
If weather forecast is to be believed it's going to be dry the rest of the day from 1-2 ish which is good. 6/4 with Bet Victor is the current best price. Gotta be buying money
I think we'll win. The back 4 looks very solid of late & we've got goals in us. The only concern is the performance of whoever gets the nod in Jennings / Treacy to replace Williams
