Regarding alleged sexual? Even if proved innocent and no charges are brought. Many a reputation, life and career would be affected and take years to rebuild.
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli Yes! Until proven guilty it shouldn't be in the public domain imho
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli Innocent until proven guilty so should remain a secret. Also if they are found not guilty the person who said they have done wrong should be named.
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli This is a terrible idea.
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli the only people interested in revealing this, are the media. the same vile bunch who get their own reporters to pose as girls on the internet, lure MPs, then expose them 'in the public interest'. and this is meant to be ethical journalism? different topic i know. and the MP is a bit of a chump for doing what he did. but the sunday mirror should get absolutely hammered for what they did.
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli Woa whole new bag of worms... just because someone is accused of a crime does NOT mean they will be prosecuted...I know of many occasions where a crime is commited they know they have done it..the police know they have done it.. but insufficiant evidence means no further action is taken ,,, in these cases the accuser is right but will be vilified as liars....careful with this one..
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli preferably on twitter and Facebook. for maximum effect
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli I refer to the statement i made earlier
Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the ... Goes without saying I'm not being serious
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the ... Sorry Marc ...missed the irony there....
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli They should not have their names released, absolutely not. They remain innocent until proven guilty. Dreamboy's suggestion is utterly crackers though.
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli There is something wrong with a system that names an man who hasn't been found guilty of his crime (mud sticks for a long time) yet extends anonymity to people who bring charges even when they've been proven to be completely malicious. I understand why the law allows this but that doesn't make it right.
Re: Is it right or wrong to publicly name people who have been questioned by the poli While I agree that someone being questioned by the police shouldn't be named it is ridiculous to name victims in cases - particularly sexual abuse cases - where the defendant is found 'not guilty'. Why? Because a finding of 'not guilty' is not the same as finding that the victim has lied. We have to protect victims of sexual and domestic abuse - we might not be able to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that their account is accurate, but this is a world away from proving that they have lied about it. There are plenty of circumstances where reasonable doubt exists about a perfectly true account.
