Is that also true for loan deals?

    Transfer deadline is today

But I'm sure you can still make loan signings.

Not 100% sure on that so don't quote me on it.

I thought we could too, but

I read something on here the other day that suggested we can't.

    Cheers SM

I thought we couldn't trade with anyone. By the sounds of that it's exactly the same as before, so there's no real rush. Well, apart from we're short a centre half and a centre forward.

    Now I am confused

because according to Oldhams website, the window closes permanently at 5pm tonight until Jan 1st. quote: 'after today, clubs will not be able to sign any players on permanent deals until they are out of contract. Emergency loans will be possible from 8th Sept until 28th Nov.'

looks like we have until 5pm then.

As far as im aware as from 12 tonight no league clubs can buy players who are contracted to other teams, they are still allowed however to sign players who are free agents.
Emergency loans are allowed but thats if for instance both your keepers get injured and you have no cover the league will sanction you to sign a goalie on loan.

Im afraid if we dont bring a couple of players in today then were stuck until the 1st of Jan.

    Problem is

we have to cut our cloth, and we have a lot of defenders that cant defend. Vaughan out on loan would suggest we can bring someone in, but what do we do about our lack of striking options? Marc Richards is not the answer. repeat ad infinitum.

Let's hope we get a centre half and a centre forward in then

I can't believe we're down to last day panic though. I'm sure that I read in The Chronicle last Friday that Ritchie wasn't even trying to get a defender.

    "Final Piece in the Jigsaw"

    Chris Shuker.

Now we are desperate for some players. We don't knoe the full story, who we have gone for and who we have missed out on. I do feel a bit sorry for Ritchie. Almost impossible to fetch someone in no transfer budget, and I seriously doubt that he can get the best out of players that are no good.

When your players are average at best..you concentrate on being hard to beat and working hard. Whereas we think we have a team of footballing legends and think we can football every team to death, but seemingly can't scrap when we need to,ornot enough of our players can.

I'm also sure that I heard him say that he was "happy" with the defence

who knows. Perhaps I'm a bully?

Yeah last night he sounded as if he wasnt too bothered about the centre half positions, if he does sign one it will probs be as cover for Reid and Carbon rather than a replacement.

    Hayes is a good signing

he just needs someone alongside him of equal ability. someone who can put the chances away. I've given umpteen names already, surely we can convince someone that a 3 month loan will help both sides. get that Barnsley Building Society cheque cashed.

    What we need is a...

    Jon Parkin.

Scores goals, and was a good defender for us in the Championship.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the League Two striker Ritchie was on about. The one that they've quoted 300k for.
