News tonight is full of the intervention of the chief rabbi into the general election stating that Jeremy Corbyn’s not fit to be PM. Hard to see this as not pro Johnson, but Is the attack deserved? I’m hearing a lot about the difference between anti Zionism not being anti Semitism but is that what it is? Extremely damaging to the labour effort at a critical time. Saw lots of placards saying “Corbyn is a racist”, which looks like somebody was expecting this. I find that this election is making me see plots and dirty tricks everywhere, I’m becoming paranoid about it. Is this real, or does it originate in Cummings office?
Hard to believe given his track record of human rights campaigner etc that he could be. I personally think the issue is he never acted quick enough(can’t remember if he did at all) over the investigations into the allegations towards the Labour Party in general.
There is clearly an agenda here - how anyone can stand up and say Corbyn is not fit to be PM because he is anti semitic but then say vote Boris is bizarre. That will be the Boris who is a Liar, Racist and intolerant of other religions and has a less than clean record on his treatment of women - he makes Corbyn look like a saint in comparison I dont like either of them for various reasons but Johnson is many times worse
Been waiting all day for someone to put something about this on here, can't say I'm surprised it's not filling the board like the Rachel Riley t shirt did, maybe a celebrity saying the same a rabi has now done has scared the usual pro labour gang on here
No, he has dared criticises the israeli regime for the way they treat the palastinians and rightly so, quite what the criticising of a regime has to do with religion i don,t know, by that logic, when we invaded iraq it must have been because we were anti islamic, ludicrous...
As some folk may remember from the Bambo chant thread I have a high threshold on what I consider to be racist and what I don't. That being said I personally think Corbyn is probably one of the least racist people in parliament however, from first hand experience, there is distinct apathy amongst sections of his supporter base towards the Jewish community and that is anti-semitic.
There has been anti-semitism in the Labour Party. You cannot argue with it, complaints have been made , investigated (too slowly) and people ejected from the Labour Party. Can the Labour Party do more, yes and it intends to. The Labour Party fights all racism and will continue to do so. The party needs to improve. It’s a great shame that the chief Rabbi feels that Jeremy is not fit to be PM it shows that we have further to go. In the interest of perspective as someone who left the Labour Party when Blair took us in to Iraq and rejoined to vote for Jeremy in the first leadership contest I have not witnessed anti-semitism first hand. I have witnessed deep upset, anxiety and confusion from my fellow members. I know which of the two major parties I’d have fighting for equality.
I don't think he is. And I also don't believe the ******** spouted by (good personal friend of BoJo) the Chief Rabbi about how Jews in the UK are terrified of a Labour government. However, I don't think he or his Party have responded well to the allegations of antisemitism within their ranks. Obviously the Tory party have done the same against allegations of Islamaphobia, but the press are less concerned about that for obvious reasons.
If there is anyone with a pulse who doesn't believe the mainstream media are a bunch of lying, bent, Tory ******** then this is Exhibit A. Compare this to the treatment of Johnson. Questioned about the 'Letterbox' Remarks the other night at the Leaders Debate, he doesn't answer the question, laughs it off and it hasn't been mentioned since. It's horrifying.
