Kayak at Eton Dorney this morning but Inverdale said farewell to "Rowing" at Eton Dorney last week. Personally I don't see much of a difference.
Kayak paddling using arms. Rowing using arms legs and body. Plus you can see where you are going in a kayak.
Colleague sat next to me is a mad kayaker and this is her take on it, quoted verbatim:- "A huge difference – different skill different boat, different paddles, different sport! Rowing is about strength and flat boring water – kayaking is about skill and adrenalin! Waterfalls rapids and stoppers!"
but the kayakers used the "flat boring water" this morning. Either way, I have enjoyed both ............ tremendous viewing.
Think your colleague is confused. There are no rapids. It's the canoe sprint on the same piece of water as the rowing.
