Based on yesterday Chronicle has he shown an interest?</p><p class="big">Barnsley are hopeful of agreeing a deal to sign experienced midfielder Kevin Horlock from Ipswich ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline. </p> Horlock, 33, has been told he can leave Portman Road on a free transfer in order to find regular first team football after being left out of Joe Royle's plans.</p> Oldham have already shown an interest in the former Manchester City and West Ham man, but failed to agree personal terms.</p> "Barnsley are keen on Kevin but nothing has been sorted out and I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility of him staying with us," Royle said.</p> "If that turns out to be the case he will be treated just the same as anyone else on the payroll. It will be up to Kevin to play himself into the team, which is exactly how it is for any player."</p> Horlock has not started a game for Ipswich since the 3-0 defeat to Reading two months ago.</p>
he's not a bad player, but i dont think we need him at all - where they going to play him? who would he drop after last nights performance? we already have midfield cover, so i dont see the point of us signing another midfielder at all.
What if McPhail is injured after last night? That leaves us with just Howard and Burns. We've got Kell, but he's being shipped out on loan and looks well off the pace. I don't want to start slagging Wroe off 'cos I've seen him have some decent games, but I've also seen him have some stinkers and I'm far from convinced we can continue our promotion challenge with him a regular in the side. Then there's Kay, who I rate highly, but with the injury and suspension record of Reid and Carbon, I see his main role as a centre half. In my opinion Horlock would be a very good signing. He's the kind of experienced, tough tackling midfield player that could help us cement a place in the play-offs. I certainly think it would make far more sense to sign a central midfield player or a centre half than it than it would to sign a striker, which we appeared intent on doing when we were after Windass.
Just imagine the team we have now but with a spine of Taggart/Dublin, Horlock, and Windass/Dublin running through the middle. Does that sound like a side that could go up automatically?
Used to be OK but since Ryanair fly from everywhere to it, there's just too many tourists now. And it's getting more and more expensive.
