I've not been to any pre season games this year and not seen him play but a lot of what I've heard and read seems to be positive.... Would he offer something different?
I'd take him on a one year deal on cheapish wages if he fancied being a impact player, coming on in the last 10-15 minutes against tired defenders he'd be good. On todays performance, he had good movement, touches and linked really well with Wilkinson, think atm Winnall and Watkins first choice strikers with Wilkinson and him coming on later in the game.
Linked up well with Wilkinson today. Curled one against the post. He does offer something different and a bit of pace. Personally I think it depends on the wage. I would sign him if we could also bring a big strong, hold the ball up striker too.
Think it depends on the bids that are in for other strikers. Would not be unhappy at all if we ended up with him. Very good record at this level.
Read somewhere earlier (maybe Yorkshire post) that LJ has said he'll only offer him a deal if we can't bring in one of the other 2 that we're after. Today's performance won't have hurt his chances of a deal. Clearly still has the same sort of attributes that got him the move to Norwich all those years ago. Was pivotal in them getting back to the Premier league back then too. He linked up very well with Wilkinson, held the ball up well and got the run on their back line a few times too. The lino was very questionable on that side this afternoon. But there was one instance where Jackson had motored a good couple of yards clear before the flag went up when he looked clearly onside. Got a bit of pace about him. I'd be considering at least a year's deal for him. No resale value mind unless he notches 15 goals this season. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Looks better than watkins. Thats not me saying watkins is ****, just think he offers more of a threat. (Albeit from very limited viewing).
I'd give him a deal if the wages are right for us. His pedigree is higher than this division. Looks keen too.
On todays showing ...... ....... it's a big fat yes from me. First 20 mins of 2nd half he was outstanding. rest of the game he offered the movement that has been lacking last couple of seasons. And he baffled the lino a few times with well timed runs ! !
Re: On todays showing ...... The answer you're looking for is yes! If he's not going to break the bank he's shown enough in his two appearances that he has something to offer, so I'd be happy to hear he's signed for the season.
At 28 he's still got a few years left in him then. I haven't seen him yet but the consensus seems to be positive so I'm happy to see him sign.
