Is he still under contract? If so, for how much longer?

The current manager clearly doesn't rate him. He has never played for the 1st team and he hasn't had a mention as a "development" squad player so what is he?

I thought that he went on trial to Lincoln at the end of last season. Obviously nothing came of that!

At the time of the original posting, the squad numbers had not been given out and he had not been mentioned in any quarter.

Hence why I asked the question!

I wonder whether we have given squad numbers out to young players just to make up the numbers

Does someone being given a squad number really mean there are any plans to play them? If we hadn't included the likes of heslop how many would that have left us with?

I agree. Simon Heslop has not started a competitive game for Barnsley in three or four years so I have no reason to think that he will play any or much part this season.

Jamil Adam, Jordan Hibbert and Rueben Noble-Lazarus are only 18, 18 and nearly 16 years old. I feel that they should be given time to develop/improve so they too may play very little 1st team football this term.

If you take those four players out of the squad, we are very short on numbers.

Simon heslop might no have started a league game wiganred but he has played in one. You have to be registered to do that aswell.

One appearance is 3 or 4 seasons is hardly a suggestion that he is going to feature regularly this season.
