I was reading yesterday about how because smoking is banned in american prisons, cans of mackerel are the standard currency instead of cigs.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122290720439096481.html

Over here it's a no. Also. No one is allowed to smoke on local government property. all who work in LG are not allowed to work in working hours. If they are caught smoking on LG property (in or out) they get the sack.
Got family who work at Armley and they've said they are allowed to smoke in cells but not on the landings.
In which case Those prison officers would be within their rights to refuse to enter a cell where an inmate had been smoking ? The reason I ask is over that animal who has been jailed for 28 yrs for killling the fella who told him to stop smoking in a bar. I wondered whether he would be able to light up in jail
