Keef can hardly be blamed for the missed chances. He puts his trust in players like Harewood and they're not doing the basics. Unfortunately we can't afford any better.

4 points from 45 available. You're right, he is above criticism.

    We're not a football team

We're a keepball team. It's a variation on football, it utilises the same rules and laws, but the objectives are different. Every other team tries to score more goals than the opposition and sets up their team accordingly. We attempt to gain more possession and complete more passes. Witness Keith Hill going cocker hoop in the Chronicle this week over the number of passes we completed against Ipswich.

For the football purist we're a delight to watch. We move the ball with ease from left to right and back again without the opposition getting near us. It's how the neutral wants all teams to play. It's how scholars think all teams should play. And it's true that once in a blue moon it results in a scoreline like the Birmingham game. But for the partisan supporter it's a nightmare. Week after week you have to endure the frustration of the best team losing and you end up with 4 points from a possible 45 away from home and your team hovering above the drop zone failing to score more than one goal in all but one of your ten games.

A balance is required. We've got to start creating and converting more chances to reflect the way we dominate possession.

No he's not above criticism but he can't be held solely responsible. We're not doing as badly as some make out considering our budget so all things considered I don't think he's doing such a bad job.

Re: We're not a football team

No, the team at first team level plays the same has the lads at u9's and thats good.
We are a team that needs proper refs and we don't get that. If its true today then Keith Hill needs to have a right go in the post match press conference and if he gets a fine the club should pay it because it needs saying.

Done get taken out for weeks and we are lucky to get a freekick. Stones gets a tackle that could have ended in a broken leg, what a yellow at most. Time after time we get shocking decisions. Pens not given game in game out. it's not fair.

    That's our trouble then?

    It's not fair?

Don't know what we can do about it being not fair. I suppose we could skweam and skweam and skweam until we're sick.

Sorry Mario on here you are not allowed to say ANYTHING that can be taken as a criticism of Hill, it is not allowed and if you do you are abused and told to **** off to watch Man Utd/City etc.
These are the new rules of the BBS. Have a look back at last Sat/ Tuesday to confirm what I have said.

He needs to make a fuss about it Jay.

And start commenting on it until it starts to change.
SAF says. We don't get Pens or Red cards at Anfield. 24 hoursish later, Red and a pen.

    Don't agree at all

The longer Keith Hill goes without complaining about the referee in his post match interviews the happier I'll be. I stand by him 100% for keeping the referees out of it and I'd be very disappointed if he changes tact.

What Keith needs to do is find a way of turning all the possession we have and all the good football in to chances and goals. Personally I think sometimes we need to be a bit more direct.

We haven't got anyone apart from Harewood to go direct. Don't think Mido's a direct type either.

Looking forward to Mido been fit. From what i saw in pre season when he had the ball i was pleased with. Maybe we could stay with the same style but put him with Davies and let Davies drift and have a real goal scoring threat in the middle which adly Daggers and Harewood haven't been.

    Re: Don't agree at all

I don't mean play the long ball. Just play the forward pass quicker. There are many times in a game when a forward pass is on but we play it sideways or backwards to be 100% sure of retaining possession. We're being too conservative, we've got to take a few more risks. It may well result in us not quite retaining as much possession but we will create more chances. People will say the opposition can't score if you're in possession, but a quick look at the league table shows we're conceding more than we're scoring.

All too often our results are not reflecting our performances, we're playing much better than our position in the league suggests. I think we need to tweak the tactics slightly to turn our dominance in to results. Fewer passes but more that can hurt the opposition.

I've just got in from Leeds and thought I'd come on here for some aftermatch views. I consider myself objective and balanced re opinion after games. It matters not however. My opinion is lost amongst the morass of unreasonable criticism on this here forum.
Shame on you (really) for blaming the manager for today's result .........we were clearly the better team and we played the best football. Didn't seem like pen to me but I'll reserve judgement until I can see it ont telly.
Point of this MSG is .......try and be patient and stop the empty keyboard warrior criticism. This management team and our players need our encouragement. Every one of those players played their hearts out for that shirt today.
    In Hillcroft I trust
    Totally

You seem quick enough to give the manager the praise when we win, so surely he can take some resposibility for our losses, after all he is paid for such things !!!

Oh by the way I can see no keyboard warriors on this thread, just some posters trying to fathom out why we have only got 4 points from the last 45 available away from home, oh and then there is Hemsworth too.
