On the offical site, under the Friday Healines link 2 of the stories are that we dont intend to make anymore signings...Yes I know thats only paper talk.. So the question is, is that it??? Is this the full squad we will mount our attack on the Championship with??? Early in the summer I think I read something from an interview with Davey where he stated he was looking to bring in about 3 players and there would not be wholesale changes. So is the current squad good enough to ensure a secure finish in the table??? We do have quality players that isnt in question but do we have the strenght in depth and fire power required?? Your thought please....
Well Patrick Cryne said a few weeks ago that we need a couple of strikers. If that's it, then Mostto and Ferenzci will be playing for us again this season. We also need a left sided defender.
What be nice.... Its about time the academy finally produced a player capiable of playing at Championship level or higher!!!
Another Hirsty..behave will you Sold for peanuts to our nearest rivals.. anyway Hirsty had a chocolate ankle
IF we play a central midfield of Howard and Anderson (when fit) and If Darren Moore doesn't suffer from Andy Johnson syndrome then we might make lower mid-table. WIth the addition of a quality striker, not just to notch but to give the team an outlet when the pressure's on in matches I think we could aim higher.
If davey puts his stubborn pants on and plays Hassell in midfield and pisses about with the back 4 then a repeat of the latter part of last season is on the cards imho.

We all know he went too cheap, thas history. But he knew where the net was and could hit it. Time and opportunities will tell.

Love to know why we let him go

No he didn't.
He joined Wednesday aged 12
http://www.swfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10304~38171,00.html

That seems to happen a lot at the academy, someone looks to be a prospect, we let them go out on loan and then just release them for nothing!! Just seems a waste of the investment we have made to get them to that point. Dont get me wrong I know that most players that go through acamedies wont get a career in league football, but that academy has been up and running for 10 years and I cant remember us getting a decent fee for anyone thats come through it... Please correct me if Im wrong......
He was deffo down at oakwell, Mark smith released him then signed him when he became academy boss at swillsboro which i thought was very dodgy
RE: Flinders I stand correct, thanks..... Saying that things dont seem to have gone well for him since he left.... Its a shame, I though he was going to have a big career in front of him, he still young in goal keeper terms so I suppose he still has a chance!!!!
We are not yet good enough. We have not improved the team enough to look like survival can be easily achieved. In real terms we've only added Hume and other than that are back to what we had last season. If the rumour is true then I believe we're in trouble. That is not based on pessimism but on the results of last season with this group of players.
Look at our home record last season if we match that again this year and have a change of approach for the away games we could easily make midtable with the squad as it is. Hume and Moore are cracking signings and have improved the squad, the other 2 are risks but a club our size has to take these risks. Muller and Anderson are like 2 new signings as well and we all know how good they are.
Home record before christmas or after? Before it went belly up after davey's stop gaps that he had brought in on loan to replace the **** that he had filled the squad with had to go back to their own club's or after?
Calm down Give it time. If the right player at the right price is out there we will go for him, I have no doubts about that. The club are hardly going to say what we've got is sh*t are they? It wouldn't be much of a confidence booster.
on thing davey has done well is use the loan market, da silva, macken, nayantanga I would guess we will do the same this season! It does work well as stoke have shown in the past!
