Wicki have a very good point though

The currrent protest is against badly drafted US legislation that puts all the onus on isp's and websites to do all the policing of copyrite with the draconian sanction of blocking entire sites if even any links to another site that has some illegal material is found.

Where the US goes we tend to follow and legislation of that form would almost certainly close us down because site admin would have to monitor every post and check that it didnt link somewhere that someone deemed copyrite infringement and we wouldnt have the time or motivation to do that

our current position of removing copyrite material when alerted to it wouldnt be sufficient.

Also we have seen first hand the heavy handed way in which the football league for one protect their commercial rights we would be shut down like a shot next time anyone put a link to fixtures on an unauthorised site or heaven forbid some shakey football highlights shot inside the ground on a mobile phone.

    - Thats before we start on the convenient censorship tool it offers with isp's being instructed to block access to websites deemed undesirable for any other reason

Why don't we just shut this bbs site forever and then we can all go back to leading normal lives instead of just posting rubbish on here all day every day (including crimbo day for aome saddo's)

    hope this helps

a very good point well made Mr W Tyke ........... i would say at the site 'thereev unlimited' but this has been put on hold due to another business venture I am involved in.

...thats it then, long live the BBS!...... maybe BBS could be renamed thereev.com in honour of yours truly?

The BBS should support what is happening by going offline for the day and replacing the forum with a banner of support.

so basically, the US moans that China and Lebanon block and monitor internet usage in their countries yet want to do it themselves?

Gutted your tipster website is on hold. I was hoping to make it rich and retire this year.
