k mate :) Hows the driving going? I'm not sure what I think about raising the age. I mean if you are old enough to marry and be in the armed forces? But then the stats do show it is the young drivers who are involved in the highest proportion of accidents, usually young men and driving with excessive speed!

No, You will still be able to drive at 17. But drivers under 18 will have to be accompanied at all times by a qualified driver even if you have passed your test. It's only being talked about at the moment but it may become law some time next year. Should save a few lives.

old people should be banned then too

it would save old lives and the innocents they kill.

foreigners should be banned from driving. it would save foreign lives and the innocents they kill.

women should be banne, it would save female lives and the innocents they kill.

people with a licence over 10 years should be banned, it would save experienced lives and the innocents they kill.

It's interesting to note that the reason people think young drivers should be banned completly is because a small minority break the law. So do a minority of drivers in every age group.

No you will be fine now. You will have the test passed early in the new year I bet! They can't stop you then :) . I think perhaps more staggered testing for younger drivers would be more appropriate, perhaps 3 tests over a number of months.

    and your reason being?

Ive had a sensible head for driving since 17 and never had a crash driving some very powerful cars. I once had a little love tap when a dog ran out infront of the car infront but nothing serious just a small dint and didnt even need insurance involvement. Fingers crossed i dont ever have an accident.

Dont tar everyone with the same brush. I agree that there are some proper tossers on the roads and a lot of them young uns. Best way to stop them is instantly revoke their license for a year if they are caught speeding or the cause of an accident.

Bit of a rights issue not been able to drive until 35 dont you think - and 21 for that matter! I probably wouldnt have gone to uni or got my first job if i hadnt had some wheels.
