Wouldn't go in there if u paid me. Horrible place In fact I'll tell you a story about there..... Once pulled up to pick up a take away from just further up the road. Had a 10 minute wait, and so in his wisdom my other half decided to go into the White Horse to get us a drink. I was with my daughter who was about 4 at the time, and she wanted to go in the pub with her dad, but knowing how rough it was, we wouldn't let her...instead we were sitting on the benches outside, looking at all the broken glasses and overturned picnic benches, broken bottles etc. Lovely. My daughter started asking questions about why there were broken glasses and why it was so scruffy etc, and who'd made it like that - so I told her that some naughty boys & girls had done it. That night, some hours later when I was putting her to bed, she said: "Mummy, when I'm a really naughty girl will you let me go in that pub?" (doh) Seriously though it's a very rough place - you'd be much better off in Grenoside & then go down to the ground from there. Cow & Calf!
Last time I went drinking round Hilllsbrough on a match day I went in the Blue Ball That ginner from Coronation Street was in. It was 03/04 I was wearing the very nice blue away shirt.
Another horrible place Guaranteed to witness a fight or worse if you stay in there long enough. Tina's right, New Barrack Tavern is the only pub around that's worth going in, but it gets packed & doesn't allow away fans so you have to cover up.
It's usually the same people in there, it is cheap though during the week thats why it's popular with "darn n arts" we have a drink in there on match days cos I went to school with the owner
i live in sheffield and i can honestly say theres only 2 pubs 2 avoid the shakey and blue ball. rest are fine
