to pause/rewind/record after you've packed in your sky subscription?

If 'he' hasn't already cancelled, unplug the box for a few months so it misses the signal from Sky to deactivate the software. Apparently it will still have all its recording functions when you start using the box again. If the box has already had it's software deactivated and 'he' has lost the recording function, it cannot be restored until 'he' either pays Sky £10 per month or subscribes to a package again.
