Student prices. I have been a ST holder for a good number of years. My son was until 2 years ago. He’s at University, and since turning adult age he just cannot afford the gate prices, yet the club still apparently holds out on setting a decent rate for students. This was raised last year by the BBS reps, and I understood that although nothing could be done then it would be looked at for future seasons. Nothing has happened, apart from 17 year olds being classed as juveniles, and OAP rates lowered to age 60. He has very little cash and will not be able to find £19-22 to attend games, and I can only help him out to a certain extent. Result - another empty seat to add to all the others in the stadium. It’s hardly an incentive for me either. I liked his company at games. So, this year I have decided to pass on the £300 or so for a new ticket for myself. I reckon I could do 14 or so home games for the price of a ST, so I would only have to miss 9 at most. I can certainly think of 9 fixtures, maybe more, that I can well give a miss. I will also save cash on midweek night games I can't always get to, will be able to plan better at holiday periods without being afraid of missing a prepaid game, and not lose out on the occasions I sometimes have to be elsewhere. In fact, depending on the club's fortunes, I'll have the freedom to skip periods altogether if necessary, and save even more dosh. The bottom line is two more empty seats to add to the thousands of other unoccupied ones that could be earning the club something. My lad will cease to be a student this year, so any future improvement will not benefit us anyway. This is a plea for the club to recognise this issue and take measures to help increase its fanbase and fill the stadium. If we were a Man U with waiting lists for seats I could understand it better. But where is the sense in pricing a potentially vital and future part of the fanbase out of games, with around 10k+ empty seats at every game earning precisely nothing? My lad is losing interest, and I don’t blame him.
Maybe if he stopped prattin' abart and got a JOB he could afford to go t' matches.
Heh, heh only kiddin'.
My rate has gone straight from juvenile to full adult price this time. Bit of a kick in the knackers.

Couldn't agree more graduates tend to earn more, kick them in the thingys now and they are likely to lose the habit of coming to the 'well. Hudders is £80 a season I think. BTW I have no personal interest in this as my daughter has 3 years before full price but I still think it's short sighted !!!
I've banged on about this so many times in the past... I even sent a long e-mail to Ridsdale about it when he was here, but he said they 'couldn't do anything about it' or summat. :S
