Imperative we keep Collins now. Though we do have Searle who turns 23 this year (signed from Swansea funnily enough), and Adam Hayton who we got from Spurs in January, though only 19 yr old.
Not at all. He did want to come to us, under Duff. When Duff stitched us up, that changed things completely. I wish him the very best.
I think it might be a struggle to get anyone to commit until the new gaffer comes in. I wouldn't if I were in their shoes.
He was Leeds united fan anyway. No assurances of his place here with Duff going guessing he’s been told he’s got a good chance there and probably means he wouldn’t need to move home and be away from friends and family etc.
Again, I really don't understand why you're so mad at him. One club is saying they want him, the manager is telling him he will be his number 1, and it's a lot closer to his home. The other has just lost their manager, have no idea who the new manager will be and he has no idea whether the new manager will want him or not, when he eventually arrives. It's the easiest decision in the world.
No true he wanted to come to Barnsley with Michael Duff incharge and not Barnsley. We weren't the attraction twas our departed coach
Good news he turned us down then If someone doesn't have faith in their ability to keep hold of the number 1 shirt they currently have for when a new head coach comes in, they are the wrong person for us.
This is exactly why duff moving on now is so damaging to our preparations for this season. Any player is going to hold off agreeing to come here for the time being till they know who the head coach is going to be.
Really!? Think it's some fans that talk bullsh*t at times like this. Yeah he probably did want to come but he probably knew that under Duff he would be No.1. Duff leaves and its a different situation, that guaranteed spot is no longer there. How do we know the club offered what he wanted? How do we know the talks were progressing at a suitable speed? He also doesn't have up leave London now.
I would be happier with signing Isted if he had signed and said "I know I am not guaranteed to keep the number 1 shirt with a new gaffer coming in, but I have faith in my ability to hold on to the shirt, so wasn't going to allow Michael leaving to affect my decision and I stand by what I said last month about wanting to stay". That's better than what he's done which is seen he's less likely to be number 1 even though it's still his shirt to lose, so he's gone and signed for an annual mid table club where expectation is less.
He was never our player so he can go where he wants.Fantastic for us during his time here and I wish him nothing but the best.
Faith in your ability has nothing to do with it. Brad Collins had faith in his ability. The manager thought otherwise. In my job, the relationship I have with my line manager is probably the single most important thing to me. I will literally only accept a new role if I think I will gel with my new manager. There is absolutely no way I would take a different role without knowing who my manager was going to be. Faith in my ability doesn't come into it. He's done absolutely nothing wrong IMO. He said he wanted to come to Barnsley. He didn't say he was coming to Barnsley. The reason he wanted to come to Barnsley was taken out of his hands, so he's changed his mind. Absolutely fair dos.
Probably the same for contract renewals - if you're on the fence about renewing the coach leaving is likely to put even more doubt in your mind.
Not really too fussed about Isted but we need the head coach situation sorting ASAP. There’ll be no new signings or contract renewals until it is and we’ll be behind other clubs with ambitions for promotion.
