Its a shame the club did a cracking job of keeping that a secret though isn't it.

And no, a generic ad in the chronicle is not enough to market a price reduction in my opinion.

I stay in touch with goings on at the club daily and had absolutely no idea it was £20 today so how is the casual fan who is put off by £28 going to know?

Was it a straight £20 on the gate? Or were there the usual hoops to jump through?

£20 on the gate and £17 if you jump through a few hoops whilst dressed as father christmas. Well I think so anyway, I only heard a caller on football heaven say it so could be wrong.

Straight 20 on gate. First I knew when I saw the prices above the gate. But to be fair having a st I generally don't take much notice to look at prices

Must admit, I didn't know it was £20

I'm a season ticket holder so I don't make the effort to find out how much it is, but I spend half me life thinking and talking Barnsley Football Club and I really had no idea.

Wouldn't have made a difference to the attendance anyway. I blame Wiseman, 'cos it's all his fault for everything. Apparently

Yeah I've said this before, the boards tell you when there's a match on with an empty row at the bottom, surely the club can get them to put the price on there as well...although I suppose it would be getting into the realms of advertising when these are meant to just provide information for motorists

To be fair, I'm a season ticket holder and I knew it was £20 weeks ago. It was on the website a few weeks ago when tickets went on sale saying tickets reduced to £17/20 for adults and £11/12 for concessions and £5 for u11s. It was on the website in the news article again yesterday and posted on bfc twitter and facebook feed. It was in the Hudds and Cardiff program's. It has been on the 'book online' page on the website all the time as £20/£17. People only have to look, it takes 5 seconds to find out the cost for every single game!!

People keep asking for £20 and you can even get in for £17 as a member, or as low as £12 ass a member with a Peterborough stub or if you know someone with a pass using voucher I, even without all that messing about it's only £20 on the gate, and still only 7600 home fans comes, disgusting and laughable!!!

What if people don't have the internet and don't want a matchday programme?

Here's an idea mfor the blinkered shopkeeper

Its 16 quid a game for the remaining fixtures. No complications, no rules. Time for the blinkers to come off.

If I'd managed a home crowd of 10k down to 7k I'd be thinking I'd have to change something before I got the bullett.

    It was advertised.

Shame really though, unless you look on the tickets section of the website though you won't know. My dad said he heard it was 17 pound in with his members card on radio so went.

I remember a few years ago we used to advertise on screens in the bus station and Alhambra. Is that still done?

I wonder if the people who do moan about not seeing offers actually ever look on the net to see the offers.

End of the day, like Spartacus says. £16 in as the club are failing with there relationship with the fans who are the blood of the club.

But as I said further up what about those without internet? Not everyone can afford the internet to look on there. Many fans live out of Barnsley so can't check the local paper.

I’ve lived out of Barnsley for 7 years now (moving back soon!!!!!) and I knew it was £17 in with a members card.

Everyone has internet theses days so if your defence is we don’t have internet and live outside of Barnsley. It would matter who you support you won’t see the news, in that case everyone basically requires a Pigeon delivering a message to there living room.

I’m sure that anyone with any real interest will go to home games if they want. And the message of the offers are not getting out there are not the issue.

It was £12:50 in on the 125th bday game and look at the price then. We all know that was advertised to death.

I take it you mean the 12 pound 50 game that was a huge success and saw thousands more fans turn up?

Ive said it before and i'll say it again. It is not the job of the consumer to hunt around and find a special offer. it is the job of a company to ensure that customers are aware.

Advertising is a billion pound industry for a reason. Because it works.
Asking people to hunt around in the dark to find a reward should be reserved for a )ushtucker trial, not a football club.

No it isnt, it can be good advertising but it isnt the best form otherwise m&s would get rid of their ads and just tell deidre that theyve got a sale on and hope she passes it on.

It is also a fact that people are more likely to pass on bad information than good. Eg bad customer service or high prices. In other words we all like a moan.

Word of mouth helps but only after the club generates a bit of advertising and good feeling about the prices, on its own it helps very little.
