Two UAF members were arrested immediately. Apparently they were shouting "Fascist scum!" as they smashed up their political opponents' display.

I think I'm going to set up an extreme-centre liberal group. There'll be some pretty violent tutting going off then, I'll tell you. Out of earshot, obviously. Don't want to be upsetting folk.
I was sat on the bench outside hmv when the whole thing kicked off. There was just a bit of banter to start with - and the BUAF were handing out leaflets. The two individual's who smashed up the BNP's trestle table arrived a bit later - but I didn't see them dishing out any leaflets. They pretty much showed up out of the blue and immediately kicked over the table and threw a few bits of literature up in the air. Not sure if they were part of the BUAF or not to be honest.

One of them was from London. The BNP are claiming the Labour Party is sponsoring UAF extremists to engage them.
Incedentally one Labour dude had his gathering at Barugh Green School cancelled by the school because it came to light the extreme rhetoric he'd been using.
They need to understand that the opposite to extreme right is not extreme left and vice-versa. It's not a stright scale, it's circle.

Ah ha good call shame its wrong According to your logic the way to persuade the BNP either that they are not wanted, or to change their minds is to have them beaten up by extremists. Personally I'd have thought that would make them more determined. What is really needed is a way to make them look ridiculous and a laughing stock
RE: Ah ha good call I know what you're saying mate.... But just take a look at the the last local election results !!!!
RE: Ah ha good call You misunderstand me. I didn't advocate the use of violence or say that it was the answer. Merely that the BNP use violence to further their cause, if they use it then it will be used against them, violence begets violence. They make people angry, I am a normally placid person but they really get my back up, so the effect they have on people not as passive as myself I can only guess at.
RE: Ah ha good call
Have you ever weighed up the vioence used by the extreme right compared to that employed by the extreme left? If you're pointing the finger re use of violence you need to turn round mate.

Where did you hear/read that? Not quite the story that the Chronicle gives. BNP claim they were attacked by UAF member. UAF spokesperson says it was a member of the public who attacked the stall after reacting when a member of BNP had made a racist comment. Says 2 men arrested but does not say which, if any, group they were associated with.
Doing what? I was asking where you got that information from because it differs from the story in the Chronicle.
Ok let's just condense the inevitable.
The UAF member isn't a UAF member and hopped on a train from London to do a bit of shopping in the Alhambra. He has no affiliation with any left wing organisations and is probably actually a right winger oncrack. The UAFcampaigners nearby were therepurely by coincedence and had nothing to do with the incident. The Chronicle is reinstated as a worthy organ until such time as I quote any information from it when it returns to be unreliable. Any source of information which supports my original statement is misleadingly biased.
Have I missed anything? I bet I have.

that's what's always amazed me groups like Anti Fascist Action using violence on Right wing groups while criticising the same groups for racist violence
Eh? What are you on? All I did was ask the source of your information, the only place I've seen the story was in the Chronicle, when I saw the headline I assumed that's where you got the details from, but it differs from what you posted so I merely asked where you heard or read what you posted. Or am I to assume that you did read the story in the Chronicle but, in your customary way, you then piece all those little bits together in your mind to come up with something it doesn't say?
here we go....... windy v the world in a massive thread again..... this is when Dirk is at his funniest
Whatever you say mate.
i don't have a "customary way" of interpreting what I read in the Chronicle because I don't read it. Ha! Stick that in your witless, nit-picking pipe and smoke it.
Nowshit off,I'm off out. I'm sure you'll find something else to disprove and someone else bore into submission.

.
