for the right calibre of player with experience we were told we had missed out on signing xxxxx, for whatever reason, at least it shows we are trying to improve the squad and not fill a gap for a month or so... Ok it's frustrating to know that we miss out on targets but it's good to know we were in the running initially. If it's a case that these young loanees are our number one targets set by LJ then I am seriously worried about his strategy, it has no long term value. I completely understand us signing young players on permanent deals for our development squad but for the first team having to fill the gaps every few months cannot work, the players fail to gel and if they do they are either recalled or picked off by championship or prem clubs.. Experience please Mr Johnson and on permanent deals otherwise we will tread water in this league at best...
Trouble is no central midfielder would want to sign permanently as they know in 2/3 weeks they'll be warming the bench when Scowen comes back from injury whereas Brownhill's loan will cover those couple of weeks that Scowen still has out and then Scowen can slot back into the team when he is fully fit.
