............as long as they were progressing on and off the field.

Watching this debacle that is going on at the club at the moment; season after season after season in the relegation zone, is just soul destroying

What sort of emblem and logo of a modern business shows two limp gay guys stood at the side of a well !!!!!!!
    FFS WAKE UP !!!!!!!!

A modern business that's proud of its heritage, and the history of the club?

    Just a thought.

WHAT.....foooking history ??? !!!...........we have been squashed between two major cities for as long as I can remember
The football fans in the Barnsley district have been going to football matches both north and south of us for decades....Because Barnsley has offered them nothing
And nothing has been tried by Barnsley to prevent this from happening..............
The fans of those 3 clubs that are either side of us look down on Barnsley because they know Barnsley will never try to be anything other than be a small club. Even though Barnsley has shown that it is a well supported club when we have had a modicum of success.

At least someone at Cardiff has looked at the business and tried to do something different for the long term future of football which will ultimatly benefit the city of Cardiff.

    Well done Cardiff.

You concluded that our emblem has two gay men on it and you seen unhappy about that but in the same post you say you'd be happy seeing us play in pink flowery shirts. Come on Nudge our tradition as a club is red and as a town is mining and glass. You can't erase our history and I wouldn't want to either. We don't need to change our traditions to progress.

Because its my own town team
That dosen't mean that when i go to the WELL I'm not looking at ways that things can be improved.
That is to say that I dont walk through the gates of the WELL with rose tinted glasses on.

In my view there are a shed load of improvements that could be made.
Other supporters, maybe the majority of supporters, may go to the WELL with blinkers on..........I dont.

Some people can look without actually seeing whats infront of them.

Change the shirt and name like you suggest and it will no longer be the same club, your club. Can't you see that? You might as well just choose to support another club.

    What history? Well :

The cup win in 1912: The premiership season: The run in the cup in 2008. Try those for a start.

These are what makes a club.

What you are after is selling the soul of the club, and its history. I suggest you look at the Cardiff Forums and see their take on the situation.

You really believe that re-branding the club (Yorkshire Tykes) will bring in supporters from outside the area? As you state, we are between 2 major cities that between them have 3 football teams. So do you expect them all to suddenly start supporting Barnsley because we are now "Yorkshire Tykes"?

Why do you think there is such an uproar about the Cardiff situation? The fans think the investment is great, but the changes are a step too far.

Do we want to sell ourselves to someone who might walk away and leave the club in the crap? Portsmouth ring any bells?

The directors of Cardiff City obviously think otherwise.
Logos, the colour of the kit and even the ground have been changed by clubs throughout the history of football.

The time is right for Barnsley Football Club to have an upgrade

Don't be a sheep, make your own mind up. It doesn't matter to me who has done it, I would not support the Yorkshire Tykes who play in the Dearne Valley in all blue, because it would no longer be Barnsley Football Club.

If we went the same way as MK Dons the club would lose a lot of supporters.

I agree on the shirts/badges. The badge has changed a dozen times whilst I've been watching Barnsley. We even played in blue & white stripes before changing to red so shirt colour is irrelevant to me. Don Revie changed Leeds to all white from blue & yellow in the mid-60's cos he envied Real Madrid's success in the all white, didn't do them any harm. Don't think Cardiff are changing their name are they? I'd be happy for a multi-million investment that only involved a shirt change. Name change that hasn't got Barnsley in the title is just plain daft and will lose more supporters than it gains.

I think any name change would have to have 'Barnsley' in there somewhere.
We are talking about how progress can be made.........while not throwing the baby out with the bath water

Flip flop! You were talking about Yorkshire Tykes a few hours ago, now it's got to have Barnsley in the title!

Why don't the Malaysians just come to Oakwell instead, no need to change our kit!
