Don Rowing: "He dismissed rumours that Arab businessmen had expressed an interest in buying the club as “just speculation.” But in the radio interview yesterday he said two parties had made enquiries, if one are the Italians then who's the other one, conflicting report? http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...eye-up-reds-in-takeover-speculation-1-4958225
Interesting as well that Hill wants Cryne to 100% retain ownership, yet hardly a week goes by when Hill doesn't mention the difference in budgets between us and whoever we are playing, yet a new owner would put us on a more level playing field.
But who would be the manager? If a takeover goes through, it's certain Hill will be on his way. Only Sir Alex Ferguson, that I can think of, has held onto his job when a new consortium has bought out a club. I know I've been accused of being one of this board's miserable, old farts for being wary of any potential new owners. But, in my opinion, just because something is new and different doesn't automatically mean it's better, or a positive change. If something seems too good to be true, it's usually because it is. Until we know who are involved in this takeover, what their vision for the club is, I suggest wariness would be the most prudent stance to take.
Re: But who would be the manager? K sera sera whatever will be will be. Thats my stance along with a Len Ganley one at the weekends like.
Re: But who would be the manager? Correct. As much as I wish we would take a more commercial and customer focussed attitude off-field, a wholesale change which would oust Keith Hill and send us down the path of 'big name' manager and players who don't really want to be here is to be resisted. Hill is building something concrete and honest imho. He should be helped as much as poss by 'the club'. If the new owner(s) are genuine they should see this too. Time and time again it is proved in football that unless it's 100's of millions thrown at a club to get true world class management and players then short termism will fail, and the club and its supporters suffer long term.
Re: But who would be the manager? I hope not the football his sides play is ****. But he gets results and sides promoted, still wouldn't want him anywhere near Oakwell.
