I don't know a great deal about Lee Johnson (do any of us!), but if the reaction of the Oldham fans is anything to go by he must be half decent. They all seem ticked off he's gone, which is a good enough stamp of approval for me. We've not had a great deal of managers in the past who were linked with other jobs, nether mind many (can only think of 1) who left us for another club.
OK for me as well. Give the lad a chance. Two points better than us with considerably less spend. Maybe he's a guy who can change it at half time if it's not going well.
Oh yes he can. Since December Barnsley have won 6 drawn 1 and lost 7 Same period Oldham have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 7 including this run of results in December Fri 26th December FL1 Oldham Athletic 1 2 Crewe Alexandra Sat 20th December FL1 Milton Keynes Dons 7 0 Oldham Athletic Sat 13th December FL1 Oldham Athletic 0 4 Yeovil Town Sat 6th December FAC Oldham Athletic 0 1 Doncaster Rovers I do really hope he can work some magic but how long do you think he'll last at Oakwell if he has a run like that?
Lee Johnson, when he took over at Oldham, had to part with 4 or 5 of his best players to pay for the new stand. They were in the relegation zone and he brought them from the brink into promotion hopefuls. Imagine having to part with Winnal Hourihane, Scowen and a couple more as of this week and still get Barnsley ticking. He must have some talent.
Don't want to get into an argument cos I want him to do really well but they were in the relegation zone when he took over and they finished 19th. He did reasonably well to get them up to 15th the season after because he lost 4 or 5 of his best players. This season hasn't finished and given their recent run of bad form W4 D1 L7 they could well finish in the lower reaches again. Wilson lost a full squad of players and was expected to get us in the play-offs in his first full season. As you say, hopefully he can get us ticking
