Club on its arse, no manager. Unfortunately no Danny Wilson pestering the board to let him be manager. 2 years and we're out of business.
Well without transfer fees the latest accounts suggest to me we'd have lost £400k last season - unless I'm misreading them. The Cryne family can't possibly keep making up the shortfall so without a dramatic change on pitch and increased crowds there's only one outcome in my opinion. Not being over dramatic, just cannot see a way out of this if things remain as they are.
Well unless there is a dramatic change of fortunes very soon the crowds will only be going one way (the same was as the team).
Without transfer fees, the club would have been extinct decades ago. We're a selling club, and always will be, and that's fine with me provided we get fair value for our players when they do move on. It's the same basic modus operandi now as when Joe Richards was Chairman in the 60s, except that TV revenue has become the main source of income and player wages as a % of turnover are astronomical these days, and the biggest threat to any club's survival.
On that point we are in violent agreement, hence the comment about fair value for our players. Nothing angers me more at present than how we seem to be a soft touch in the transfer market compared to pretty much every other club out there.
Only conclusion we can draw is that we are such an unattractive proposition for half decent players that we 'have' to put sell on clauses in as per Davies'. Not sure I concur with that, wonder what a football industry experienced Chief Exec with some proper clout would be able to do ?
Probably nothing If a player refuses to sign without a minimum release cause, what are we supposed to do?
