Looking at that dross lining up.

As for Foster, should never be allowed in to an England squad again and now he's bloody starting. Disgrace in my opinion.

Smalling, Milner, Jones. I'm predicting more disappointment in 2016.

    Can't believe I'm watching it.

Can't believe we're actually playing Costa Rica (who are through) and we're already out.

    Can't believe it's not Butterfield.

Put the razor blades away, take a deep breath and sing Engerland Engerland Engerland in your best death metal voice, the positive energy will transfer to the players and we will win.

Razor blades aren't out. I've got to the stage where I'm totally indifferent towards England and no amount of positive energy will help this set of losers.

Agree that Foster shouldn't be playing but mainly because Forster is a better gk.

Have I missed something with Foster? Has he done something I don't know about?

Smalling/Milner - completely agree. Would add in Lampard as well as don't see the point in playing him today.

Phil Jones - I think he's got all the makings of a decent centre back. If only someone would let him play there for 20+ games instead of moving him around, I think him and Stones could be really strong for us in the future.

    Luke Shaw - class act

He retired from international football in May 2011, aged 28.

Opinions eh. I've seen nothing in Jones to suggest he will be a fixture in the England squad.

I thought Shaw was the standout player. Other than that, was all very 'meh' as usual.

The likes of Stones, Ox and Walcott will be involved in qualifying, but in the main, these are about as good as it gets (or as good as Roy will pick). I hope Trippier has a good season in the Prem, and, laugh if you want, Drinkwater. Huge gaps to be filled for me in both the right back and central midfield positions.

At least now I can just enjoy the rest of the games that I bother to watch. But yes, the last two World Cups and the last Euro's have really shown us up to be a very average team. Good job the top two qualify for France 2016.

Hope we don't arrange a friendly with Gibraltar any time soon...

Shaw is a class act, long term heir to Ashley Cole and I think Barkley, the Ox and Jones could develop into really good players. Wilshere needs three injury free years and then we'll see. Milner is nothing more than a bit-part player for me, whilst Foster is a stop-gap until Butland or someone else emerges as a contender to Joe Hart.

Build a team around Hart, Shaw, Stones, Cahill, Wilshere, Sterling and Barkley and we might be competitive in 2-4 years time.

Made me laugh that we are looking to the future yet Lampard and then Gerrard took all our free kicks, hardly encourages our young UN's to flourish.

We've bitten off more than we can chew even getting to the World Cup. We had young players chomping at the bit to get in, but they were left to gnaw their nails on the bench. Having said that, young Sterling did OK and was quite nippy.

The defence proved to be toothless in the challenge, and with Rooney out wide we had no bite up front. In midfield, we lacked the incisor instinct to play killer passes. It was poor fare, fans grinding their teeth in frustration.

The game is knackered in England and we'll see if the FA have the teeth to do anything about it. If they don't, we're up a gum tree.

To be fair because he had two very young children and didn't want to spend huge amounts of time away from them, particularly when he wasn't getting a game.
