I didn't go up to the game on Saturday, but I have since seen the highlights on the telly. Unfortunately the Austin one happened off camera, so I can't comment on that one, but it amazes me how anyone can blame anyone other than Kay for his sending off. It was an absolutely diabolical challenge that was so late it appeared pre-meditated and it was lucky he didn't break the other guy's leg. I know it was a local derby and that pride was at stake following last seasons games against Donny, and I understand that the team and the fans may have been feeling a certain level of injustice due to both the ref's decisions and the challenge on MacPhail last season, but anyone who does what Kay did deserves his red card, his three match ban and whatever harsh words the manager chooses to give him. It was stupid, probably cost us any chance of snatching anything from the match and showed a worrying immaturity. Unsurprisingly the club are not going to appeal the decision - there is absolutely no grounds to do so - but let's hope that this incident can be used by the coaching staff to teach the likes of Kay, Austin, etc the difference between passion and aggression.
