... let's not forget that Mellon and Scott were a big part of the success story last season and are presumably being relied upon just as much this year too. I can envisage a scenario where a solo manager loses the plot completely, but not so with the way our management structure is set up. Unless Flicker is ignoring them completely then there's a team of 3 involved in the poor selections/tactics at present. Questions need to be asked, for sure, but let's not oversimplify this to purely being an issue with Flicker. There's something more deep-seated behind the malaise unless all 3 of them have simultaneously lost the plot together. I'm concerned, but a simple 'get rid of Flitcroft' doesn't feel like the right answer to me at the moment.
You're right in that the tactics and selections are based around a three-way discussion between Flicker, Mellon & Scott. The two basic issues for me are:- (1) generally poor signings not making any positive impact (2) not adhering to a system/team that works (Huddersfield in first half, would be my starting point)
Or Mellon and Scott saved our skin last season and Flicker has tried to fly solo this season....which would explain the Hill like philosophy and tactics.
yeah posted other day that I cant believe 3 men can all be in agreement on these crazy tactics. Surly one must see that playing Dawson on the wing is wrong. If melon and scott of become nodding dogs to flicker then they must grow a pair unless they are plotting his downfall
I hear from a club employee (juniors coach), that Flicker is just the motivator and spokesperson and Mellon is the man behind the tactics. Hope for all our sakes that the other 2 parts of the management team are posing him some severe questions if that's the case.
thats the way I see it too sadly, I reckon that perhaps.. Mr Flitcroft has had an attack of "Billy Big ******" and is over riding all others, like Keefy did. Well we all know what happened there. I just hope someone has the sense to slap him across the face with the fish of common sense.
That is consistent with what I noticed on open day. The team were on the training pitch working out how to defend corners. Mellon was in the area organising the players and working out tactics, flicker was taking the corners between twiddling his thumbs. He was having no input and his corners were shocking.
He as bought the team he picks his mates [sorry that should read the team] his job and responsibility don't look for scapegoats
