It's Baffling With Davey

* Back in January the Nyatanga deal was done and now it doesn't seem that way.

* Other week he said he doesn't see many squad changes and yet five have been put on the transfer market already.

* Says it's been common knowledge Christensen has been available for a while. Is it? I've never seen anything to hint at that anywhere.

Fancy releasing someone and then offering them a contract so soon after.

 

maybe it was another case of one department at oakwell releasing information that they shouldn't have been or even worse, releasing false information. Wouldn't be the first time this season would it.

 

Or it could be that

* back in January he said that the deal with Derby for Nyatanga had been done, which it has. Can't remember anyone mentioning personal terms, except for to say that they had yet to discuss them.

* other week when he said he doesn't see many squad changes he was maybe referring to the squad he uses on match days. Some of the players are never in the squad. 5 isn't exactly an overhaul anyway. And things do change in football.

* says it's been common knowledge Christensen has been available for a while. Obvious to anyone with a brain that he was on his way out. Maybe the decision was made a month ago (a while?) and they didn't feel the need to broadcast it as they were outside a transfer window and thought they might as well wait until the summer when they announce all the players going out (i.e. today).

To counter that..

1) He said a fee was agreed with Derby. It is. But if Nyatanga would rather stay at Derby, I'm sure he's entitled to.

2) 5 players is a major cutdown from last season's crazy activities.

3) The fact that he hasn't played since Charlton away would suggest that he's not in the club's plans.

the fact that he had to be placed on the bench against cardiff also shows just how thin our squad is

 

You don't like Simon Davey. I get it.

Maybe he was put on the bench because our young striker tore his cruciate ligaments just before the end of the season, Odejayi was injured, and Nardiello was injured? In that scenario the 6th choice striker might make the bench as a one-off.
