So it will have lots of adverts then, on a big screen. Ok....

So glad I don't have to live amongst the "management speakers" any more. I'm sure in this case it is designed to impress gullible fans. It might well look fantastic but the majority of material on display during a matchday will be advertising.

Huddersfield have a big scoreboard. It shows photos of the mascots before the game, shows photos of the starting XI and subs for Town as they are announced, says "CORNER" when it's a corner. But doesn't show any match footage, no highlights, no replays, nowt. 95% of it is pure adverts. Constant they are.

Boro's was very similar, plenty of adverts "CORNER KICK - Sponsored by Ramsdens" but did show the actual match on the screen, live (about half a second delay I think) and showed highlights at half time etc. Much better theirs.

Personally, I have never felt that my matchday experience (what a ***** phrase) was enhanced after attending a game with such a scoreboard. I couldn't give a toss on that score whether we had owt up, full stop. I know the score, usually. Once or twice I forgot. The Chelsea 6-0 game, Huddersfield 7-1, I lost track on those occasions. And I don't need to know how long's left. I've got a phone.

However, if a scoreboard can generate income, then fair enough. But I already find it bloody cringeworthy hearing the 'Pukka Pie East Stand' read out, or 'Big Jean M'Voto sponsored by West Stand Bogs' etc.

They put the installation out to tender 2 years ago. I worked for one of the companies that were asked to tender of the job, it was supposed to be all done for last season.
They then delayed it . AGAIN !!
