**** that, you get **** all for losing lol. in relation to the Olympics All competitors should at least get a personal best and aim to win. should be gutted that they haven't I hate the attitude of some of the GB team who are delighted just to get to the final, or just to be at the Olympics. ****** in it to win it
The ones who canot be blamed are not the ones taking part or the ones coaching them. The ones to blame are the lazy sods sat on their arses, always.
It depends though - if on rankings and past performances you couldnt really be expected to even reach a final - getting to the final is a great achievement and something to be proud of. If on rankings and past performance you should be in with a realistic medal chance then being satisfied with the final isnt good enough Anyone who puts in their best performance of the year can be happy I would have thought - though swimming for some reason best performances rarely come in the final for anyone ( Adlinton being an exception) In it to win it is a great aim but the vast majority of the athletes have no realistic chance of winning - for them their absolute best performance is good enough. Very happy with all our 4 medalists so far even though none have actually won gold - the Mens team bronze really exceeded expectations - the other medals less of a surprise
Athletes should aim to peak for the year (or even four-year cycle) at the Olympics. For many it is the biggest sporting event of their lives and they will want to avoid spend the rest of their days thinking "What if..." or "If Only..". Saying that, some should challenge for medals and others are there for experience with the eye on medals at 2016 and beyond.
Are we all OK with this quote from (Sir) Bradley Wiggins "It had to be gold today or nothing. What's the point of seven medals if they're not the right colour? Mainly it's about the four golds. Now I have to go to Rio and go for five"
