I've been watching the City since 1968 through thin and thinner. When I started going, we were challenging for promotion to the old First Division and had just beaten Real Madrid in the Cup Winners Cup. A return to the big time was around the corner surely We narrowly missed out on promotion again in 1971 but since then the club has gone through the worst period in its history. Just my luck that. We've had the occasional decent season and the odd good cup result. I've been lucky enough to watch us play in Europe - we used to do that most years in the 70's and 80's until the FAW stopped us. But I've had my share of wet Wednesdays at footballing outposts such as Halifax & Scarborough. I've even seen us lose 4-3 at Carlisle midweek when we were 3-1 up with 5 mins to go. Same bloke, Rafferty (I'll never forget his name) scored all 4 for them. That was a long journey home I can tell you. But all the heartache and misery, not to mention expense, will be worth it tomorrow when we play in the final of the FA Cup, something I never imagined I'd see. Today can't go quick enough.
well...... I can certainly feel yer excitement.... good innit..
yer a good bloke and this is good as it gets (for you)... enjoy it. I hope it is as good for you as our 'Bradford match' our 'Prem experience', our 'Wembley playoff final', our 'Millenium Swansea day'. Those days were all in the lasttwelve years and before that there was a void bigger than the Enterprise could have crossed.
I find it hard to say 'good luck' to yer because we had such a **** day six weeks ago and I feel that we could have done better and and.... ah fook it. But I hope you (specifically) have a great day.
